Advice Question

I need High-School advice!

Ok honestly doubt that anyone here on this site cares, but I'm starting highschool Monday, and I'm absolutley and completley freaking out. I really am completley overwhelmed. I've only been into my high-school a few times, and each one has been hectic, and insane, so I haven't had time to look around and really map the place out. Naturally, this worries me. Do you guys know what that feels like?
I've just left middle school(or jr high, depending), were I was a top student, I had a few really good friends, and I had managed to scrunge up alot of respect from my teachers, and I was happy, because for the first time in a long time, I was top dog, and now I'm back at the bottom of the totem pole.
Do any of you guys have advice? I mean any at all?
Classes
Kids
Orginization
Important tests?

My advice is more for high school in general, along with 'first day' advice, soooo...

The Actual High School Part of 'High School':
-Chose (but you probably already did) the highest classes you're academically eligable for (if you're eligable for an honors class, then take it). But also have an elective or two.
-Don't worry if you don't know where you're going. If you get lost or don't understand how your schedule works, ask somebody or go to the office. Most teachers give freshmen a free pass on the first day if you're late.
-Always study for tests and start with subjects you have trouble with. Teachers may start talking about finding your method. Different people study different. Many learn from flashcards. My friend only studys by pretending she's teaching a class on the subject.
-Organization isn't too hard- just have somewhere to put all papers and notes from each class. Also, actually read the notes you take when you study. It helps :)
-Try something new (like a sport or club).
-Academics should be your number 1 priority (before boyfriends, girlfriends, Facebook, TV, or even Fanpop :).

The Non-Academic Aspects:
-It's okay to be nervous. On the first day, there's two groups of people: the ones who care about school and are at the least, somewhat nervous, and the ones who don't care enough to be nervous.
-You start high school in the same exact place you ended middle. I found that nothing really changed except the building.
-In my school at least, upper classmen usually leave lower classmen alone after the first few days unless you provoke them or include yourself with them in some way.
-You'll notice that there's less drama in high school, but that doesn't mean none at all.
-Stick with your friends, and make new ones.
-Keeping a good reputation is still important, so don't make bad decisions.
-Trying to fit in is not bad, but leave enough room to still Be Yourself.
-High school ends... Yeah, it does, and keep that in mind, for better or for worse.

This depends on how big your school is. If you go to a small-town school like me, then it shouldn't be a big issue. Remember, you still have your friends, and you guys can work stuff out together.
But if you go to a large school, ask one of the teachers to show you around the school after it gets out, so you won't get as many stares. This way, you'll find out where all of your classes are, and you'll get to know a teacher.

High-school can be scary-at first. But you'll do fine! Just keep telling yourself. It may sound silly but one of the most important things you can do is to like yourself. If you do other people will like you too!
Just do your level best. That's all anyone can ask of you.
Finally I would say that you should check out school activities that suit your interests.
Have fun, be a friend, be yourself, and do your best! :)

Hi, Ok I know your in America and I am in England and it is 25 years since I was in your position but firstly dont panic. When I was what was then called a first year student we were given maps of the school and we were in the smallest High School in our County at most we only had 350 children. Ask teachers if you get lost or worried they do not bite they will understand also you probably will have Prefects they will help thats what they are there for. Dont forget it will get better. I can promise you that.
