ASH was Shot by Fox (Ben) and died a slow and painful death. he explained everything to Alex but Alex pretty much knew what had happened, and when ASH died and the rest of the squad came in and found Ben lying on the floor shot, one of the squad members saw ASH and asked(quoted from the book)
"Who was that?"
Alex took one last look at his godfather
"It was nobody."

i hate that ending it made so mad the next book wasn't out. ash is an insider with scropia and lends info to them. after yassen stabbed him in the stomch. Ash had to blow up alexs dad because they would kill him if he did not. borrow book from freind and finnish it. its awsome.
ash is actually working 4 snake head. when alex and some soldiers including scooter jump onto the oil rig and when they get to major u's room they burst open the door and take open fire and hit ash and then ash tells alex that he actually works for snake head and that he was the one that clicked the button which set off the bomb on the airplane which alex's parents where on and he was the one that killed his parents
