Just wondering... especially since the show is basically an extra AHS season...
Here's my (SPOILERY) review:
- Not even close to an origin story for Nurse Ratched from 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest'. Should have said something like "loosely inspired by" and even that would be a stretch. The show would work much better without the Cuckoo's Nest hovering over it.
- Story and pacing is an absolute nightmare, but I guess that is not so different from most seasons of AHS. Wished they'd spent much more time on Edmund and on Osgood, her monkey and her terrible son. Spent waaaay too much time on Mildred and Gwendolyn, which was a snore-fest, and didn't use Nurse Bucket to her full potential.
- Finn Wittrock and Amanda Plummer are great! Although poor Edmund's character was all over the place - some semblance of coherence to his moral order would have been nice, but it seemed his ethics were whatever they needed to be in a particular scene. Sophie Okonedo is also very good, but the representation of DID written for her was not great, even if she was good through all her personalities. I also loooooooooooooved Sharon Stone and was surprised to see most of the fan reaction was very hateful lol. I thought the Osgood family was the most interesting thing about the show.
- Overall, really similar to a season of AHS, in that the story was a disaster, but it looked good and the characters where mostly interesting, even if they suffered from incoherent writing.
