Whereas all other cartoon characters who wear kid gloves (most of them wear white kid gloves) may not potentially confuse animators and laypeople alike, drawing white gloves on Yakko, Wakko, and Dot's hand confuses countless people because their feet are also white. Animators drew gloves on cartoon characters, especially in the early days of animation (gloves were fashionable back then), so the character's hands showed up more easily. With the Warner Sibs however, white gloves on their hands only makes matters worse and confusing. Why couldn't they have just not drawn gloves on their hands in the first place and just draw them with white hands that stopped at the wrist like that of Rita, which also matched the color of their feet?. This is why I don't like to draw any of the Warners with white gloves on that much, especially the kind they wear that stops at the wrist.
Many of the people who contributed to Animaniacs and laypeople alike were (and still are, although the show has been canceled for eleven years) confused as to whether the Warners hands should match the color of their feet or match the color of their arms. In small parts of the two episodes Space Probed and Chalkboard Bungle, Wakko is drawn with white hands, but in the episode White Gloves, Wakko's hands are left the same color as his arms. In the direct to video movie Wakko's Wish, Yakko's hands are black like the rest of his arm. In the Animaniacs Wakkorotti short where Wakko has laryngitis and can't burp, he is shown to wear two white gloves on each of his hands. In that short, this wearing two gloves on each of his hands was necessary. In all the other episodes and in the movie, however, this is unnecessary.
With Rita however, there is only one instance of hand color confusion, one illustration showing Rita herself, Runt, Yakko, Wakko, Dot, Hello Nurse, Dr. Scratchsnsniff, Bobby, Pesto, Squit, Pinky, Brain, and Slappy. Her hands in that illustration are the same color as the rest of her arm. This makes people suspect she was actually wearing gloves in all her other appearances in the show, the movie, and in images. At least the animators of the show did not draw gloves on Rita, otherwise, there would be just as much hand color confusion with her as there is with Yakko, Wakko, and Dot.
I personally like to draw Wakko, Dot, and Shelby's (That's my name for the Warner's mom, who is from Wakko's Wish.) hands all-white up to the wrists like that of Rita's hands, Yakko's hands with white palms and mostly white thumbs (I did this as a compromise between white hands and hands left the same color as his arm.), and leave William's ( The Warners dad, who, like Shelby, shows up in Wakko's Wish) hands the same color as his arms like how he appeared in the movie. I personally think the Warners are wearing white gloves over black gloves on each of their hands in almost all their appearances in the show, movie, and in images.
