Atheism Question

How Do You Feel When Someone Tries to " convert " You ?

I think it's just wrong to try and make some one believe in something they don't want to. I don't force anybody to be Atheist but many people in my life have tried to force me into believing in God.

It depends on their methods. If they just want to discuss the subject, even with the intention of convincing me I am wrong, then I actually like it because I like talking about it too.

If they just yell at me/talk over me about fire and brimstone, or try to force me into going to church or something, then it's annoying and unwelcome. :/

But I think when it comes to debates and things, conversion is generally the goal for both sides. Most people want the other to agree with them by the end of the argument, I think.

Mostly people have been respectful. Sometimes when I ask Christians questions, trying to get issues of religion clarified, they think it's prudent to try to convince me I want to be a Christian or Muslims might say I'm criticizing Christianity because I'm meant for Islam. I've started prefacing my questions with "I'm not religious and not interested in converting", but people still don't get it. That's a bit annoying.

It really, really bugs me its like if I don’t try to convince people that god doesn’t exist then I don’t need to be 'converted'.

One time I was in CS class (compulsory at my school) and the teacher was telling us the importance of going to church and to humour her I asked what would happen if we didn't go to church. She told me that I we didn’t go to church then we where going to hell. She aimed it right at me since I am open about being Atheist/Agnostic. She even invited me to her church.

I thought that was really demeaning.
