i'm rarely speechless... but fuck... what they're putting in these children's heads is just twisted. i feel terribly sorry for those kids.

Unfortunately, I doubt these types of "camps" are rare. The methods of indoctrination are creepy.

Earlier this evening, my usually talkative son was quiet. He eventually explained what was bothering him: the kids at his table had been telling him he'd go to hell because he doesn't go to church.

I recalled the CCD lessons from my Catholic upbringing, and told him that a loving god is not going to send people to hell because they don't go to church.

Sheesh. I mean, he's only 10, and I wasn't about to get into the finer points of theology, and he's well aware that we're pretty much skeptics. But I don't indoctrinate him to tell his classmates that they're full of shit when they start talking this nonsense.
