Well, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "return matriarchy", because few civilizations have ever had a matriarchical structure. But regardless, positioning women above men is just as bad as positioning men above women in society. The goal should be EQUALITY between the sexes.

I really don't believe that a matriarchical society would be any better than a patriarchical society. Any society that oppresses or discriminates a segment of the population based on its gender is a bad one.
