Of course! I like stories where there is some kind of struggle (whether it be internal or ex) that ends happily. Not all the problems necessarily have to be solved, so long as the last chapter is somewhat postive.
But books in series are better without happy endings to keep you interested.
It depends how it's done. Some books, (the biggest example has to be twilight)make a happy ending seem really forced and sickly-sweet. For a happy ending to work, you have to really believe in and like the characters. It works in most classic books, such as Pride and Prejudice. Most books need a bit of sadness or death, or else they'd just get boring. I think that happy endings CAN work, but only when they're well written and believable

yeah.. id have to agree with you! Although i like twilight.. the ending just seemed to clique. And i love the ending of Pride and Prejudice :)
I think too many people have the wrong idea about "happy endings". A happy ending doesn't automatically mean a Disney ending. (No, not slamming Disney. I do like a bit of cute, optimistic fluffiness now and then. Disney endings have their places.) =P
There's the kind of happy ending that says "YAY! We did it! Let's party and live happily ever after!"
THEN there's the kind of happy ending that says, "Wow. We've come so far, we've been through hell and back, we've done so much and seen so many things...and we've finally done it. The journey has changed us, the scars are still there, and there are some memories that will never quite go away - but we've done it. The healing is beginning, and the hard part is finally over."
You see? It's the kind of ending that has a great, solemn joy to it; the kind that's so deep and meaningful and fulfilling and beautiful that the word "happy" doesn't do it justice. And THAT'S the kind of ending I like.
Happy endings are every bit as real and powerful as bitter beginnings. Sometimes you just need to fight for them.
Yes, I do quite like Happy Endings. However, it shouldn't be unrealistically and/or boringly happy. There should be some sort of struggle, sacrifice and possibly loss, but Happy Endings do not bother me :)
