I wouldn't call myself an anime/manga enthusiast...but yes, I do read and watch a little. It's my dad's fault really, lol. He's the geek of the family. =P I used to hate anime, but now that I've given it a chance to shine, I rather like some of it.
The first anime that warmed me up to the genre was Bleach. It was summer, I was bored, so I got addicted to it for a while. Looking back, I see parts of it were pretty weird/stupid, but I still have a soft spot in my heart for it. Plus, the characters are well-rounded and likable, and the battles are always exciting. ^__^
But the one anime/manga that totally converted me was Fullmetal Alchemist. FMA impressed me on so many levels, especially as an anime newcomer. I fell in love with it for the same reason I fall in love with a good book...it told me a story. It took me on a journey and made me cry and laugh and care about the characters, something that no other anime had done for me. It completely changed the way I looked at anime, and I've been hooked on FMA ever since. I don't have any money, so I can't buy the manga volumes or anything; but I watch the episodes and read it online. There's a new chapter every month, and I always look forward to it.
Yep, that's right folks! A bookworm has fallen in love with an anime/manga series! I'm proud to declare it, and I'd highly recommend it to EVERYONE, anime haters and lovers alike! The story is amazing, and the characters are so deep and vibrant and real.
