It was called Captain America: Civil War: New Plot Synopsis Divides Team | Collider
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
, thanks to the comic book source material and EW’s latest star-spangled issue. However, Marvel unleashed a brand new plot synopsis that provides official clarification on some of the smaller details that, if I’m being honest, we already pretty much knew.
Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
Compared to the last synopsis, most of the details are the same, only now there’s no mention of “a new and nefarious villain” and the camps and their ideologies are officially laid out: Team Cap is all about keeping The Avengers free from government control, while Team Iron Man is in favor of accountability.
, it’s pretty clear why each hero branches off the way they do. Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers has a bad taste in his mouth from
, in which it was revealed Hydra was secretly operating in plain sight from within S.H.I.E.L.D. Elsewhere, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark feels personally responsible for the state of the world. In
, he mentions “the path I started us on.” He was the one who created Ultron behind everyone’s backs and his vision from Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) still haunts him. As teased from the cast and crew, the global devastation from the past films also influenced the decision to pass the Sokovia Accords, the bill designed to restrict the movements of the superheroes.
trailer and early promo art, we generally know which sides the characters take. On Team Cap are Hawkeye, Falcon, The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Agent 13, and Scarlet Witch, while Team Iron Man is comprised of Black Widow, War Machine, Vision, and Black Panther. That doesn’t mean that’s where they will all stay, especially when you look at the self-proclaimed “wild cards” Wanda and T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), but the lines are drawn.
