Matt Murdock began fighting crime on his own at the outset of Netflix and Marvel’s
, but The Man without Fear’s arrival in Hell’s Kitchen signaled the start of a multi-series plan to eventually bring together a new group of heroes —
have shown, Matt fights alongside Elektra (Elodie Yung) and comes to blows with The Punisher (Jon Bernthal). And while there’s not yet been any indication that this will be the case, there is of course the hope that Matt and Frank Castle will eventually fight alongside each other in some capacity, given that they have faced common foes in the comic books over the years.

“I think quite possibly, but I don’t think he has any knowledge of that. I don’t think that he could even fathom that that is a possibility,” Charlie Cox tells EW. (Maybe he could use a Nick Fury-like figure in his life to nudge him in the right direction.)
will see the stars of each of the four announced Marvel/Netflix series —
— team up, though with two of those seriesyet to premiere, there is plenty of groundwork still to be laid. Still Cox suggests Matt’s evolution this season could very well prepare him for eventually being more than a one-man crimefighting force.
“Something that’s very tricky for Matt is to allow anyone to help him. He finds it impossible to ask for help,” Cox said. “One of the lessons that he’s going to have to learn this season is that he needs other people, he needs help, we all need help.”
And just what form that help comes in will be left for viewers to discover when
hits Netflix for its second season on Friday. Above, watch Cox explain how Matt will grow into the hero he’s destined to become.
