Why are people so obsessed with couples?

Ok. Fairy tail, is an ACTION ANIME. It may have some teeny bits about romance and all that, but it's basically all about butt-kicking, fighting, and all that awesomeness. Why is everyone going so crazy about couples? For example, the NaLu and NaLi fans. Everywhere I go, people are swearing, arguing, etc. like stop! Who cares who natsu ends up with? I mean sure, even I have some couples I ship. But there's no need to go crazy if someone thinks differently. I mean, what if the author decides Gray, or Natsu, or Erza ends up with no one? Then who are you gonna scream at? The author?? -.- it's been really annoying cause lots of characters have been getting hate just cause people want different pairings. If natsu ends up with Lisanna, he ends up with Lisanna. If gray ends up with ultear, he ends up with ultear. You can't do ANYTHING about it. So you might as well stop this pointless arguing, cause its getting on my nerves. Go watch naruto. At least in that, there isn't much romance in there, and no one gives two shits who ends up with who. Not that I'm saying fairy tail sucks or anything. (cause it doesn't. It's awesome) Honestly though, if your here just for the romance, then go watch Mew mew power, shugo chara, whatever. This is anime for the action lovers. The people who wanna see some real fighting. And someone please explain to me the reason why everyone is obsessed with couples, and pairings? Thanks!

Although sometimes the main reason for why we're soooooooo obsessed with Fairy Tail couples is that the way that the couples talk to each other or how the act towards each other you know. Well at least that's my reason....But...you know what being obsessed with couples aren't that bad^^ at least you get to talk about some romance stuff from Fairy Tail...plus Hiro-san already putted HEAPS of proofs on the anime/manga that there is a HIGH chance of having romance and couples for the anime Fairy Tail. Although I have to agree with you that it's really annoying when the characters are being hated...I mean like hating a charater just because they are sort of in the way of their pairing is just...annoying right? Although some people hate a character for some specific reasons, not including the 'she-is-in-the-way-of whatever pairing' then I guess I'm okay with that^^

So ya basically why WE are sooooooooooo OBSESSED with couples is because the way they act, how they look sooooooo cuuuuuute together and so on.^^

Thanks, your answer cleared things up. I'm still not a huge fan about romance and all, but yeah even I have a few couples I like ^u^ and nope it's not a bad thing to be obsessed with couples and all., its just that when people want different couples, things get ugly. And people start fighting. And that's why I don't log with the whole romance thing in fairy tail :3 and thanks for your explanation ^.^
