IMPORTANT NOTE: JELLAL AND MEREDY ARE INCLUDED ON 'TEAM B'. By Team B I don't mean the GMG group, I mean this selection of supporting characters.
Basically, I'm enjoying the focus on Team B in the current manga arc and hope they are given something to do. I've always found this selection of characters to be more interesting than Team Natsu and do not think it would be such a problem is Mashima focused on them solely for a few consecutive chapters.
It won't happen though and I don't think Mashima will do anymore with them which is a shame. Each of them deserves screen time and development and their interactions are something new after Team Natsu's have become dull and predictable.
This manga currently has enough spin-offs/prequels as it is, we don't need more. What Mashima needs to do is take some panel time away from Team Natsu and give them to the Team B characters. Involve them in the missions more. Give them their own mini-arcs. Whatever, I don't care, just round out the cast more instead of forever focusing on Team Natsu and the Dragon Slayers.
I see I misphrased the question, I probably should have said 'arc' as opposed to 'Mini-series'. I do agree FT has too many ongoing spin-offs which in my opinion contradict the story. For example, in Ice Trail Juvia appeared as a child but the rain was absent and she said she had an uncle. Basically, spin-off usually convolute the story.
I don't want a spin-off, more so mini-arcs for each of them as you said. Most of them have had minor background development with only a few panels. I'd like to see them without Team Natsu getting involved all the time. For example, don't just make it be one of or two of them accompanies Team Natsu. Juvia for example, let something about her parents/origin occur and she seeks it out alone or with someone that isn't Gray. Levy can be a similar story, perhaps something her parents left behind for her and Gajeel can accompany her. Cana, let's see her and Gildarts on missions together or see her handle herself alone. Laxus, need I say more?
