FanFiction.net Question

Does it bug you, or anger you when the author rewrites and or makes drastic changes to a story you've been reading?

For example: chapter changes, the deleting of chapters or adding new ones between old ones, fully modifying updates with new material to older chapters? I just want to know people’s opinions on this. I’m completely rewriting my story and want to know what to expect when I publish the new version, because so far it’s completely different from the original. I’ve deleted a lot of work, rewrote what I kept and added a lot of new material to several of my older chapters. So I was just wondering, what would you say if this happened to a story you were reading?

Kay, be direct.

Oh yes, I have made it perfectly clear that the story is being rewritten on the site. I have it noted in the Summary.

not really if it is noted in the summary or at the first of the fic.

As long as the rewrite is mentioned in the summary, in an author's note in the first chapter or the most recent chapter (for rewriting a WIP), it's fine. After all, rewriting is normally done to improve the story. If a later event in the story references something which has been rewritten or added into a previous chapter, you might want to include a note recommending that old readers check out the rewritten earlier chapter.
