I join clubs because I'm a fan of its topic. I haven't joined random clubs which I don't actually like just to get the caps, and I haven't stopped looking for new clubs once I've earned the top clubbing cap.

I have found some really cool clubs when I saw these caps and decided to see if I can get another. So in fact they did inspire me to add something new to my updates.

I was just interested in enough clubs to join them regardless of the caps' existence. It's not like I'd have ignored those clubs without the caps.
