End of Part 55
I thought about it for a few seconds, about to argue when I realized that they were right. I knew that they were trying to help me, to help us. I smiled at both of them as I walked back over to look at the rings.
It only took me a few minutes, I had seen many rings...but none of them seemed perfect for my angel. I was about to suggest that we walk out when I saw a small, silver ring set in the back.
"May I see that one please?" I asked.
The store keeper opened the cabinet and pulled out a small, silver ring with a diamond that instantly made me think of Rosalie. My still heart started to pound as I held this delicate ring in my fingers...I knew this was the one.
"Emmett?" Carlisle asked.
"He's found it." Edward said as he smiled.
"Yes, it's perfect." I said as I turned the ring, noticing a blueish color in the diamond.
"You have found your ring sir?" The storekeeper asked.
"Yes." I said as I turned to smile at Edward and Carlisle.
[/b]Part 55[/b]
"This is the one?" The store keeper asked.
"Yes, it's perfect." I said quietly, staring at the delicate ring in my hand.
"Shall I wrap it for you?" The man behind the counter asked.
"No, I would rather just take it like this if you don't mind." I said.
I think that I shocked the poor man, his heart rate doubled. "Sir, if I may." He said as he watched me.
"I'm sorry, what?" I asked.
"He wants to at least put it in it's box, Emmett." Edward said as he laughed quietly.
I turned to see him and Carlisle laughing behind me. I guess I hadn't thought about the fact that I couldn't just walk around with this ring in my pocket..that would be strange.
"Oh, yes please." I said as I handed the ring back, doing my best not to touch him.
He took the ring and polished it a bit before placing it into a small, blue velvet box. He wrapped a white silk ribbon over the top and tied it before walking over to the cash register.
I met him there, with Edward and Carlisle trailing behind. He gave me the total, which made me gasp a bit...I had never spent this much money at one time.
"Don't think of the money, think of Rosalie." Carlisle said.
I took a deep breath, my mind thinking of Rosalie's face when I asked her to marry me. The joy and pride I felt as soon as she said yes, the fact that this ring would make it more official..more binding that we belonged to each other.
"Sir?" Someone said, breaking me from my memory.
"Oh, I'm sorry...what?" I stammered.
Edward started laughing so hard that he leaned gently against the counter. Carlisle came to stand by me, pulling the money out of my pocket..counting it out the correct number of bills before placing them on the counter.
"Thank you." Carlisle said as he took the ring and handed it to me.
"Thank you, very much." I said as I turned the box around in my hands.
"Good luck." The man said as we walked out the front door.
"You might want to put that in your pocket...before you loose it." Edward said as he hit me in the arm.
"Good idea, better be safe then sorry." Carlisle said.
I put the ring in my pocket, touching the outside of my pocket a few times to make sure it was still there.
We all walked down the street and into a men's clothing store, quickly picking out a few shirts to replace the one I ruined. Edward and Carlisle also got a few shirts, and pants before we paid and walked out of the store.
We were just about to the car when I saw a small florist and had a urge to go see what they had to sell. Edward and Carlisle were loading their bags into the back of the car when I started walking over to the flower shop.
"Emmett?" Carlisle called.
"Just one minute, I'll be right out." I yelled back.
Carlisle looked at Edward who shrugged his shoulders. I had learned that not thinking was helpful at times...I knew that if Edward figured out what I was planning he would begin making fun of me and wouldn't stop until we got home.
I walked into the flower shop and was hit by the smell of hundreds of flowers. The girl behind the counter stood up a little straighter, her long hair shaking out behind her.
"Hello, can I help you?" She asked.
I did my best to avoid looking at her, not because she was unpleasant to look at...but because when I did I saw the pulse in her throat and couldn't afford myself to get distracted now.
"I'm looking for roses." I said quietly.
"They are over here, must be for someone special." She said as she walked over to a cooler.
"Yes, someone very special." I said as I smiled.
"She is a lucky girl." She said as she turned and smiled up at me.
I turned away from her quickly, focusing on the roses in front of me. I reached my hand into my pocket, wrapping my fingers around the small box that held Rosalie's ring. The minute my hand touched it I was calmer, and knew I could get through buying the roses and leaving this poor girl alone.
"I would like one red rose please." I said as I smiled.
She grabbed one, long stemmed, red rose and went to wrap it in paper. I paid her for this and turned to walk out, feeling her eyes watching me leave. I shook my head and turned to smile at her, laughing quietly as her entire face turned bright red.
I walked back to the car, laughing at the poor girls response to me. I opened the door and saw both Edward and Carlisle watching me. I just shook my head and climbed in, slamming the door behind me.
"One rose?" Edward said.
"Yep, one rose." I said as I thought about the girl in the store.
"Interesting. She liked you" Edward teased.
"Yes she did." I said as I laughed.
"Hmmmm should I tell Rosalie!?" Edward asked.
"Edward..don't ruin this day." Carlisle said as he began driving back.
"I'll get even...don't worry." I said as I thought of the ways to get even with Edward.
I thought of locking him out of the house..or even worse...locking him in the house with Tanya. I started laughing so hard that I was leaning against the car.
"Oh you're evil." Edward said as he shivered.
I also thought of hiding all of the stuff that he puts into his hair, wondering what his hair would look like without all that stuff. Of hiding all of his books that he seemed to write in, or taking away all the books that he read when he wanted to be alone.
"Ok, you win. I will be nice....for now." He said as we pulled into the driveway.
As soon as Carlisle put the car in park I jumped out of the car, running to be with Rosalie.
"Don't worry, I'll get the clothes." Edward called.
"I know you will..hey who's the mind reader now?" I yelled back over my shoulder.
I ran up the sidewalk and slowed just outside the door. I carefully unwrapped the rose, being careful of all the petals. I then took the ring out of my pocket, tearing the ribbon off and opening it to reveal the delicate, small, silver ring with a blue diamond. I took the ring and threaded it up the stem of the rose until it touched the bottom of the petals.
I opened the door, pulling my arm behind me to hide the flower. I heard Rosalie running down the hall, calling my name quietly.
She jumped at me from across the room, and I caught her in one arm, her legs wrapping around my waist. She tried to turn her head to see what was behind my back, but I quickly pressed my lips to hers...taking her mind off of it for the minute.
I walked down the hallway, ignoring everyone else who was in the room...I walked into our room, our lips still very busy. I walked over to the bed, gently placing her on it without letting her see what was behind me.
I knelt to one knee, laughing quietly as her jaw dropped and her eyes got larger.
"Rosalie." I said as I took a deep breath. "I know you already agreed to this, but please let me do this right."
She nodded quickly, pressing her lips together and doing her best to keep herself on the bed.
"You know I love you, and that I am so honored and excited to be your husband..but I wanted to make sure that everyone knew that you and I are to be married." I said..my words coming out before I could think them out.
"My rose, my only love, the only person I want to spend forever with. Please, will you be mine? Will you marry me?" I said as I looked up at her, pulling the rose with the ring out from behind my back.
Well, here we go!!
Love ya!!
