Well,if you know him personaly then you should by the least try, I mean i have a friend who is currently dating this guy and they started dating when she asked him out, what i mean to say is that you should try your best! by the way i don't really give advice on dating stuff but i did date a guy for 6 years and it made me shocked when i looked back on that now!!! well, either take my advice or someone eles's advice.(sometimes i have no idea what i'm talking about)
