I've seen two very different opinions around the fansite: Caroline falling head over heels for Klaus, and Caroline just not feeling it. There are extreme optimists and doubting pessimists, so what to do?
Here's my view, and since people like my previous article (KLAUS MAKES IT PERSONAL), I figured I would take a chance and write another.
Time. Episode by episode, inch by inch, discussion by discussion, look by look our Klaroline has a chance. Why, you ask? I am so glad you did. Klaus has his family back, or at least, the chance of remaking a family. His mother seems to share his desire to return to family values and there in lies the hope. Klaus may be the bad guy, but he is a bad guy with a human side. A human side that was demonstrated when he saved Caroline. He didn't have to come to her, he could have sent another with his blood, but he chose the human, personal touch. It shows he can be kind, even if he is 'bad'.
We already know that Caroline has a thing for bad boys (Damon/Tyler)... maybe not specifically (Matt), but she has a tender spot for those who have been given an unfair hand in life (Tyler). With Tyler, Caroline risked physical harm and even death to help a friend. She knew that a werewolf bite could kill a vampire, but still she did not let him change alone. She lied to protect him. She hid their friendship for months. She can do it again.
I can see Caroline feeling something for Klaus earlier than I first thought. Even if the emotion is confusion, even if she does not know why she is drawn to him or why he decides to be kind to her, I think Caroline will feel something. Why? Because she is Caroline. She cares about the down-trodden. She was one of them.
Some may disagree with me, and that is their given right, but think about this: What if she does care? What effect on Klaus may that have? I am not saying Klaus because a lapdog like Stefan in season 1, but slightly less of a threat would give a long term Klaroline a chance.
There is a rumor/thought that Caroline and Klaus's relationship would be a betrayal of Caroline's friends. Nope, sorry, I don't buy into that. Perhaps a few friends may initally see it that way, but consider this: Caroline would never purposely do anything to put her friends at risk, even if she was with Klaus. In fact, a relationship between them would actually keep her friends safer than they are right now. They would have someone with influence over Klaus turning him away from hurting them. That would be a good thing.
The most dangerous thing about Klaus is that he does what he wants when he wants to do it. Caroline's influence may direct that away from the show's main triangle. Plus, Klaroline would give Klaus something he never had but always wanted: love. The man just wants to be loved and Caroline is the only woman on the show that I can see is actually capable of giving him that. Siblings feel betrayed, his mother may or may not have completely forgiven him, but Caroline has no reason to hate Klaus other than the indirect route of Elena.
Last point. I don't think Caroline hates Klaus. She may fear him, she may even have despised him for what he did to Tyler, but not hated him. She is one of the most forgiving people on the show. She has such a big heart for people and I believe it is that heart that can ultimately thaw his.
