HELP ME !!!

so i used to date a guy but then he cheated on me so we broke up 1 month ago...but yesterday was the first day on school it was really awkward between us....but today was different he's talking to me he even sent me a message he said he's sorry for what happend and stuff like that so what should i do ? is it cool if i talked to him and we became just friends ?
