The Heart Breaking Trocher
Since the year of 2002, I have been a sports fan. Now of course my dad is also a sports fan, and of course I would like the teams he likes. My dad is a San Francisco 49ers fan (Football), a San Francisco Giants fan (Baseball), a San Jose Sharks fan (Hockey), and a Los Angeles Lakers fan (Basketball). And you know, I didn’t know much about sports when I first got into them so I just liked the teams he liked. Year 2002, I think I was 7 years old at the time. It was a good year to be a San Francisco fan, the Giants and the 49ers both made it to the playoffs. Hey that’s great, first becoming a sports for the first time and already see your teams go to the playoffs! Just for the record, I didn’t get into Hockey nor Basketball at first, it took me about another year to like both those sports.
Anyways, both the Giants and the 49ers went to the playoffs, however, both lost. The 49ers made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs, but lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a, embarrassing game. I think you might get the idea on how my Niners did in that game…Now it was up to the Giants, who made it to the World Series for the first time since 1989! The Giants were looking for their first World Series Championship EVER! They won a few World Series as the New York Giants, but they came to SF in the 70’s, but since then they haven’t won a World Series. It was game 7, the Giants vs. the Anaheim Angles. And in a heart breaker game 7...the Giants lost…again…My dad was really bummed that both our teams lost that year, and so was I. But on the bright side, the LA Lakers won the NBA Championship that year! But I wasn’t into basketball yet. So I didn’t see them win it.
The 2002 season was over, and when 2003 stared…it went downhill for my teams. After the 2002 season, both the Giants and the 49ers were on losing streaks. Both teams didn’t make it to the playoffs for years now. As for the Lakers and the Sharks, oh they were doing great! Winning their division, going to the playoffs, but…they were losing. 2003, my teams were close, but not close enough.
The year 2004.…oh god, don’t remind me of that season. Especially for the 49ers. In football, each team plays 16 regular season games. Out of 16 games…the 49ers won only 2 and went 2-14 in the season. Last place in the NFC West, and the had the WORSE RECORD IN THE NFL THAT YEAR! The only games the 49ers won that year was against the Arizona Cardinals, we faced them twice (cuz their one of our division rivals) and we won both games by 3 points. And since then, the 49ers haven’t had a winning season. Do I have to go on about my Niners?
The San Francisco Giants, well they had 2 more winning season after the 2002 season, but of course they lost. And since then, they been on losing streaks. Oh how about that? Most loses! Ugh, so things were not happing in San Francisco for a while. It was hard to show your colors for the SF Teams, less Red and Gold, and less Black and Orange.
San Jose Sharks. I have to say, these guys give me the most torcher out of all my teams. I mean, sure, they kick ass in the regular season, but in the playoffs. They always, always choke. The past 2 year, the Sharks made it to the Western Finals, the series before the Stanly Cup, which they never been to! But damn, we did HORRIBLE! In the 2009-2010 season we faced the Chicago Blackhawks and we got swept. Lost the series 4-0. Oh god. Next season we face the Vancouver Canucks, not really any better. We lost the series 4-1.…Uggggh. Why can’t my Sharks do good in the playoffs?
The LA Lakers. They are the best team I have, record wise anyways. But after 2002 things weren’t going their way. Kinda the same thing with my Sharks, made it to the playoffs but lost and lost….and lost. But hey, everyone in the world hates the Lakers (expect for the Lakers fans) So everyone was happy they were losing…Yeah….But finally! The 2007-08 season! I see my Lakers go to the NBA Finals for the first time ever! We face the Boston Celtics, who I found out we are rivals. But…yeah, we lost. 4-2 the series was. We lost….
But here where things get better for me. The year 2010. First of all, the Lakers went to the NBA Finals once again, but guess what!…THEY WON! After 8 years! For the first time! I see one of my teams win the championship! It was very exciting for me! I was so happy that we won it all! You know how it gets better? Well lets look at my SF Giants, it’s the last game of the season, we’re facing our rivals the San Diego Padres. Whoever wins this game, wins the NLC West and goes to the playoffs. The 9th ending, Brian Wilson, our Closer Pitcher, comes to the mound. And then…STRIKE 3! WE WIN! WE’RE GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2002! My Giants were on a mission, to win the World Series for the first time ever for the city of San Francisco!
Playoff time! First round we face the Wild Card team, the Atlanta Braves. Even though they are a Wild Card team, the Braves are one of the toughest teams in baseball. But we won the series 3-1 and beat them in their own home. The NLCS comes, and we face *Gulp* the Philadelphia Philles. These guys are not a walk in the park. This team and their fans will put any team though baseball hell. They are a hard hitting team with A+ pitchers, and the fans…well, lets just say their not the nicest fans around. The Giants were the underdogs, people said we wouldn’t stand a chance and, even get swept in this series. However we were proving everyone wrong. In game 6, we were in the Philles home and even though we had the lead in the series we couldn’t afford a lost. Our best pitcher was pitcher in the game and if were to lose our pitcher would be tired for tomorrow’s game if there was one. The bottom of the 9th came. The score was 3-2, Giants leading. The Philles were hitting. The bases were loaded, any hit could give the Philles a win. How to make it worse? Well, Ryan Howard, the Philles best hitter on the team was up to bat. This guy can hit a home run with eyes closed if he wanted too! My heart was beating like crazy! After a few pitches, the count was 3 balls, 2 strikes, oh, and also there 2 outs. One more strike, would get us the win. Brian Wilson, one of our best pitchers was on the mound. Oh god, it felt like time frozen! Wilson made the pitch, the ball was down in the left bottom conner, it looked like it was ball 4! But….IT WAS STRIKE 3!!! OMG! WE WON! WE WON! THE GIANTS ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!! OMG! I WAS SO HAPPY!! THE GIANTS ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES FOR THE FITST TIME SINCE, yes, 2002!
The World Series came, we were facing another tough team known as the Texas Rangers. Now, like the Philles, these guys are a hard hitting team with good pitchers. And again, the Giants were the underdogs, and people said were going to lose. Game 1 of the World Series, we won. Game 2, we won. Game 3, we lost. Game 4 we won. We were up in the series 3-1, no one expected this! NO ONE! Game 5, bottom of the 9th, guess who’s on the mound? Brian Wilson, Mr. Fear the Beard. We were winning 3-1, we were at the Rangers home. 2 out, and up to bat is Nelson Cruz, a hard hitter for the Rangers. The count was full, 3 balls, 2 strikes, 2 outs. One more strike, one more strike and the Giants would win their first World Series. The pitch…STRIKE 3! FINALLY! THE TROCHER FOR MY GIANTS IS FINALLY OVER!!!!! FINALLY! AFTER COMING TO THE CITY OF SAN FRAN AND OVER 30 YEARS OF LOSEING, WE FINALLY WIN IT ALL!!!! Oh my god! I was so happy! I jumped out of the couch, and jumped high in the air for happiness! But when I landed I gave my left leg a cramp. XD OUCH! My leg! It hurts! But it hurt so good! I was on the ground in pain but I was too happy! I was feeling pain and happiness at the same time. Victory never hurt so good I tell you. LOLZ!
So, from 2002-till now. I’ve seen 2 of my 4 teams win it all. I’m still waiting on my 49ers and Sharks. So far the 49ers the doing great! Their 7-1 right now in the season and have the 2nd best record in the NFL right now. So looks like we will go the playoffs. How far they will go? We will have to wait and see. As for my Sharks, right now it’s the regular season and their doing good like always. But the question is, will they win it all for the first time ever? Only time will tell. So far half my torcher is over. Before I die, I want to see all my teams win it all AT LEASE ONCE!!! So far, the torcher is half way over for me. When will it end?….Who knows?
