Mortal Instruments Question

Why is the title of the first book City of Bones? What does it refer to?

It’s been a while since I read this book and I need to know why the title is ‘city of bones’…

When I’d just read it, I knew it of course, but I have to make a book report against Monday, and I’ve been so stupid to return the book to the library, so I can’t look it up :s and i’ve got to explain the title (detailed)…

If someone could show me a site where I could find all chapter titles, that would be great too! And I also have to think of three alternative book titles, so if you got any ideas, I would be sooo thankful.. :)

thanks a lot! xxx

Good question. I thought it was refering to the "silent city" where all shadow hunters corpses go but then you remember that "city of ashes" is refering to the silent city. I'm going to guess that the title is talking about Valentine and Jonathan. How all this time Joclyn believed they were dead, all that was left were "bones". Then it's like he comes out of the "ashes". But honeslty I don't know. :P

I think its because the silent city is also called the city of bones, which is where the silent brothers stayed.
