Music Question

What is an obvious difference between the music from ten to twenty years ago, and the music nowadays?

Lots of people say that the music from nowadays lacks a certain emotion...

Other people say that Bieber is a fag...

Other people say music from nowadays is just about money and fame...

These are all motives from people who prefer the early music(I do too, btw.) What do you say it's so different, not talking about genres?

The fact that celebrities are more glorified now than they were back then plays a huge role. There are gossip shows and famous internet bloggers. Back then there was pretty muck just Vh1, Mtv, and a few magazines. More people want to be celebrities and music is the easiest path to take. More and more people with not quite as much talent are being marketed. What they have is synthesized talent. not raw talent.

There ARE still people of today with raw talent, just as there were 30 years ago (despite what all the closed minded people say) No talent preventers were added to the water supply. They're just not as easy to fine. If you're really interested in finding them, look around.

It has a little to do with the themes.. there are a lot more songs about having sex and lots of money (not my favorite topics) but it's nothing new.

I don't believe it has anything to do with "new" genres. I'm glad there are other things besides rock out there.

I don't know why so many people are concerned about Bieber... He's just one guy.

Today"s music isn't so much lacking, as it's more "overdone", you could say.

And again, (this is something I've said over and over again) there is nothing wrong with covers. the cover artists is not trying to improve or replace the original. they just want to sing a song they respect. there's nothing wrong with that. (except maybe those pop to punk things. I really doubt they respect those songs, which makes it rude)

that is all, I think.

Now this is a good answer. I agree with practically everything here, except for the bit with the covers, but it is just an opinion. I hate most covers, doesn't matter how much that artist respects that song. Good originals should be left an original.

Originals are still originals, and they're still there, no matter how many times it's covered.

uhm... Pop, Hip hop and Rap were already there in the 80's... The Outfield, Run DMC, Eminem is also from the 90's. But I agree with you, especially most covers are horrid.
