Everyone does not hate hip-hop and rap. Just like everyone doesn't hate country or folk music or other varied music genres. People simply have different ideas on what is good music. There's some who dislike certain types of music for stupid and ignorant reasons but there's alot who simply dislike the music. It's not their cup of tea.
I do not hate it, it's just not my style. Personally I think every genre of music can have good songs and (as my sister is a huge rap fan) I already heard hip hop songs that were quite good (although I still don't listen to them :P) I think this kind of "hatred" probably comes from the popular "rap" of our times. And with artists like Kanye West and Iggy Azalea I can quite understand this.
I've heard a number of things, the most common is that they find it sexist--all of the talk of 'bitches' and 'hoes' and girls with big butts.
The other biggy is that they don't like all the sex, drugs, and money talk. Granted there are a lot of rap/hip hop songs that aren't about such. They just don't play those on the radio, they seem to only like playing trash.
Others don't like all of the swearing. Honestly though, what genre doesn't have some though.
Other people just don't like the beats and such. Rap/hip hop isn't for everyone; sort of like how a lot of people find Opera/classical to be boring or country to be 'white-trash' and annoying. People just have different tastes.
Personally I like hip hop/rap. Not all of it though and it isn't my favorite, but I still like it.

Zan people disliking hiphop and rap for those things are kinda ignorant. EVERY genre has those kind of songs in it.
If they dislike hiphop for that they might as well dislike rock for the same reason. That's how that logic should be if they claim on bashing a genre for petty reasons.
Exactly though; it only takes a few minutes of browsing YouTube to find a rap song about something other than drugs and money and what not; like Emenem has some good stuff--Berserk (as I interpret it) is about letting loose and having fun on the dance floor, I Need A Doctor is about feuds in hip hop. It's not all sex and drugs and 'hoes'. Omi's Cheerleader (if that's considered hip hop) is about a dude who keeps telling pretty ladies to back off because he wants to be faithful to his girl. And like you said; rock is notorious for drug abuse and I'm like 90% the term 'rock n roll' is slang for sex. I mean if they just don't like rap because it's simply to their taste that's cool, it ain't for everyone. But don't rule it out based on stereotypes.
I'm not sure why others do not like it very much, but I don't like some of it because some of the lyrics are just not my cup of tea. When I was 1st introduced to it, I found that many of the artists seemed to be striving for the "shock" factor in their lyrics, instead of just relating a story, etc.
I have listed to some that are not so bad, but my first impressions kind of stick with me and I don't tend to gravitate to it like I do with other forms of music.
It's really what you wanna like. Until 9th grade, I was into hip-hop and rap. Ever since I got into edm and dubstep I cared less about rap and hip-hop.
Not all rap songs have cursing, some artists talk about their struggles or goals. Some allow fans to cut loose on the dance floor. My only rap group I like is Foreign Beggars.
But if you like hip-hop or rap or whatever go for it!
