Owl City
answer this question
Owl City Question
How did Owl City save YOU?
Okay, so whenever I go watch an Owl City lyric video or something I usually find a comment that talks about how Adam Young saved them with his music. I always find the stories very touching and kind of amazing.
So how did he save you? Or a friend?
I'll let you know my story to be fair, and if you're curious. X)
So earlier today, I was reading my old diary and I was so surprised. It pretty much revolved around 6th and 7th grade -- my worst years.
I totally forgot how depressed and lonely I was through those years.
I was terribly shy and it was hard for me to make friends. The fact that my self-esteem was non-existent didn't make anything better. In 6th grade, I was a very lonely outcast. In 7th grade, I made friends, but it wasn't a very good crowd for me. It was basically the people that gave their virginity to their boyfriends at the age of 12 and going into a coma because of a drug overdose. (Yes, that stuff really did happen.)
I wasn't happy. There was so much drama in my life and I was so full of hate. I couldn't have been more alone.
See, I was too scared to be myself. Like I said, I was terribly shy. And all I cared about was what other people thought. I was also kind of rebellious...
7th grade was the year that Fireflies started playing on the radio. After that, I began following Owl City's music and, gradually, I changed.
I stopped caring about what other people thought and I started being myself. I began to see the world with a new perspective, and it's beautiful. It's a major change from how I used to be, but I love it, and I love Adam for it.
I'm purely happy.
I once saw a pictire and it had a quote by him on it that said: "If I wasn't making music, I don't know what'd I'd be doing. I wouldn't be happy though."
If he wasn't making music, I wouldn't be happy either. I'd still be the same depressed, lonely, little girl I used to be.
But Adam taught taught me it's okay to be different. It's okay to be shy. It's okay to see the world diff
