The Story:
The Percy Jackson and the Olympian series is probably the best children books out there right now. If you don't know the books tell a thrilling tale of the Greek mythology gods and about their offspring called demigods meaning half god. The story tells of Percy Jackson, a troubled kid diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD but soon finds out his true identity of a half blood. Adventure awaits him at half-blood camp, a camp for his kind to learn to fend against monsters. The book has humor, drama, suspense, great cliff hangers, romance and it's for all ages. It will give you a feeling of greatness when you finish. The only downside is after finishing the book you might (like me) not be able to forget it and you will be thinking about it twenty-four seven. You won't get enough and you'll want more, the only problem I had was they were way too short!
Writing style:
The books are written very well, now not perfect but as close as you can get. Every paragraph has something exciting and I didn't get bored once reading the series. Rick Riordan is very descriptive and will make clear images in your head. True the first bit of the lightening thief some people find boring but I don't know one person who's read the entire book and not read the rest of the series. It takes a few chapters to get going in some peoples opinions and I see why. Rick's cliff hangers are incredible, I'd find myself planning to read for an hour and wind up reading four, desperately trying to find a dull spot to stop. He should have written a bit more in my opinion I know I want more right now.
Book 6?:
Rick from what I hear is indeed making a sixth book, but it will not follow Percy's point of view which I must say makes me sad. The ending to the books made me almost cry each time because it was over ESPECIALLY the fifth book. The ending to that book is the strongest emotion filled ending I've ever read which is good but bad when you realize there's no more to read. The 6th book is scheduled for fall 2010 and I can't wait to see what Rick does with it . PLEASE LET ME KNOW if you know anything more about the sixth book.
Movie:
Well as you may know they now made the lightening thief a movie. I have not seen it yet so I can't judge too much. But apparently it doesn't follow the book at all like the first harry potter did. The cast is about 6-9 years older than said in the book which I thought was a good thing BUT this will cause problems, TRUE I prefer watching 17 year old with swords more than 12 but if they ever do the fifth movie Annabeth will be like thirty and honestly the age she is now is the age I want her to stay at. I won't go into detail about the movie since I have already written a review on that in that fan club but I will say that the movie is different from the book.
Casting:
The casting was ok but they didn't fit the book descriptions. Percy sort of fit but Annabeth and Grover were way off and the actors are OLD! I mean they're supposed to start off as young teens learning about who they are and grow into awesome fit strong adults, not start off as that and grow old.
The Titans Curse Casting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:
Please let me know if you have any information the sea of monster auditions were sept. 2009 but when are these auditions I REALLY want to try Nico di angelo's part.
Video game:
There was a tie-in video game for the ds and we all know how those usually go but I hear it'ds not too bad BUT they could have made an epic game for the main consoles hopefully they will in future.
Rap-up:
So there it is and please comment and try to answer my questions I'd love to talk about the book or movie my msn is drive41@hotmail.com so please chat and let me know what you think.
