Well, he most certainly wasn't in the globet of fire, but I was more upset that he was barely in the Goblet of Fire.

So not enough Sirius goodness. Bloody directors and their desire to give Sirius not enough air time! -curses them all-

Sirius wasn't in the book that much either. He was in hiding. Yeah it sucks that they didn't give him more movie time, but hey, they cut out a lot of great things.

He was in the fire, wasn't he? It's been a while, but I thought he was. That's like the only time he shows up in the books, also.

Very disappointed! I was so looking forward to seeing more of Sirius, and all we got was talking barbecue coals! I was really disappointed with the way they did that scene as well. I wanted to see him in the cave, with rat skeletons lying around, and tossing chicken bones to Buckbeak!! :p

Like you guys said: In Goblet of Fire, it was a bummer that all they showed was Sirius talking to Harry in the coals of the fire.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But even worse was Sirius' lack of a meaningful role as a young Marauder in Order of the Phoenix.
In fact, in the film OotP they shafted the entire Marauders group and played them down into practically meaningless kids.
In OotP, I wish they had gone into a lot* more detail on that scene of the Young Marauders (in the film, only James Potter) torturing the young Severus.
I was very disappointed in that scene; it went by way* too fast. I would love them to have filmed that scene exactly like it was in the book, showing real interaction and dialogue between the characters as Harry saw them through the Pensieve.
That had the potential to be an important and pivotal scene, showing just who was who and what was what at Hogwarts in the 1970s. The scene could have given important clues as to why things in 'HP' were a certain way, because of what had happened in the past.
It would have been very enlightening; I had gone to the movie really looking forward to seeing that scene the most, and I came away from it so disappointed!
That said, I must admit that the darling guy who played the young Sirius (James Walters?) was very sweet on the eyes when I got a real look at him in the still photos! It's such a shame that the 'Let's-Torture-Snivellus' scene went by so quickly, you couldn't even get a good look at him (or the others)!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

That's what I mean--they should have done that scene properly, and given the other Marauders speaking roles. Preferably, they could have addressed each other by name so that even a non-book-reading viewer could figure out who they were. Then the audience would have been able to distinctly make out their various personalities. Viewers would also have been given a chance to identify Sirius, Remus, and Peter with their respective characters as adults.

Not to mention getting a decent look (along with Harry) at his much-talked-about father James. And seeing James' interactions with his tight-knit group of friends, as well as with his enemy Snape.

They should have shown James and Sirius grinning at each other and trading 'anti-Severus' quips, so you could make them out as best mates ganging up on the unpopular Severus.

Also Remus' quiet and non-bullying personality could have shown his disapproval of what James and Sirius were doing, in his eyes and demeanor while he was reading the book. And Peter could have been egging James and Sirius on, and cheering them from the sidelines.

Also Lily could have had many more lines in that scene--she and James could have had more 'back-and-forth' dialogue so that you could get a real feel for the tense vibe and sexy 'buzz' between them.

Not to mention that Severus could have had more lines and been shown defying the Marauders and venting his rage on Lily.

In other words--like I said before--that scene should have mirrored the book exactly.

What a waste of so much potentially great stuff!

After all, this whole 'past scenario' thing seems to me to be a pretty central theme running through the post-GoF books.

I'm almost positive he was in more of the book then just in the fireplace that once... Maybe I have to go re-read... No, I'll just skim for Sirius' name.

Sirius Black and Remus Lupin were vital characters, and neither one of them EVER really got the respect they deserved from the film makers. What pisses me off even more than his near-abscence from Goblet of Fire is that one of the most important passages from Order of the Phoenix was completely ignored. Fellow book-fans will probably know which one I mean.

I was looking forward to the whole Sirius in the cave scene. I thought it meant a lot for Sirius to come that close to Hogwarts just because Harry said his scar was hurting one night. I found it really sweet

They left out way too many scenes in that film. I particularly missed the scene near the end where Dumbledore is starting to make preparations for fighting back against Voldemort, it gave a sense of hope which was lost in the film (semi-Sirius-relevant since he is in the scene).
