It was/or is rumored Andy picked him by choice to take his spot. as I'm sure he new his time was running short (I'm only guessing he was told/cancer had returned)

I would choose something between these two. Liam is a great , but for me Andy is and will be THE Spartacus.

I've only seen Andy a couple of times as Spartacus and am more familiar with Liam's portrayal of the character. I don't have cable or satellite TV so I only see the show when I get a chance. At first I didn't care for it but got to really like the characters even though I don't know them that well yet.

Liam sucks as Spartacus. Anyone who thinks otherwise is out of their mind. He has no charisma. Speaks his lines in a tone that is fucking laughable. Has week screen presence and really just is no Spartacus! Gannicus is the only reason to watch anymore even Crixus lost his luster.

Liam is horrid! I loved blood and sand as well as gods of the arena, but I recently bought vengeance because I hadn't seen it and was in disgust. Not only was the script and direction bad but the replacement for Andy is a joke. The soft spoken yet revered Andy as spartacus was convincing and a perfect fit. Liam not only didn't look the part in the least but was a completely different character. Bad Speech after bad speech made me want to skip through about half of the season. You basically could have went in any other direction and with any other actor and it would have been much much better. Or even just killed him off would have made it watchable. In the process of it all they ruined Crixus. Gannicus is literally the only good part about this season, needless to say until they go in another direction with the show like maybe another goods of the arena you're series or even leading up to it,I will not be watching this once great now ruined show.

I definitely miss Andy but Liam has done an excellent job as well. Under the circumstances I'm satisfied and I'd really like to see Liam in more shows.

Liam was fine and easily the best choice of the of his peers. You guys realize they do screen tests (in this case with Manu Bennett) when auditioning these actors right? Liam was the one who performed the best.

Liam is seriously horrible. He is soft and has a womanly figure, an overall feminine look, very not a gladiator. It is impossible to take him as a Gladiator let alone as Spartacus. The producers should have spent more time on finding a true "Spartacus" actor instead of trying to find one who "looked Like" Andy. Liam is very hard to watch almost so that I am not sure I will continue watching the series. The characters who are holding the show are.... Lucy Lawless Lucretia, Viva Bianca Ilithya, and Craig Parker Gaius Claudius Glaber

Sucksss! The only guy I like in thrid season is the one who plays Marcus Crassus

I think he is not good as Spartacus at all. Andy Whitfield made that show his portrayal of Spartacus was impeccable and compelling. Liam has no Star Quality at all and is very mediocre as an actor. Although Andy was quiet and reserved his acting popped on the screen and his conviction to his cause seem so believable. Maybe it's because I'm watching the second season sad in the wake of the loss of Andy. Either way it's just not w working for me Rip Andy no one will ever touch you're acting prowess and the part you played you'll forver be the one and only Spartacus

Liam was a BAD replacement for the legendary Any. It was really disappointing to watch season 3 after such a engaging season 1 and 2. Andy looked so convincing in his role of Spartacaus and you could feel the pain in his acting. Liam looks like a clown. Liam has simply no screen presence and in short he looks like a bad actor doing time pass.Spartacus needed an intense mature actor and all they could find is this clown Liam?? Don’t even want to watch season 4 now..urghh.

Initially when I saw the picture of Liam knowing that he's going to replace Andy, I was quite disappointed. However as I watched his portrayal, he's grown on me and I ended up loving his Spartacus as much as Andy's (I know that's quite a rare opinion).
