O.K. Being a mother of an 8 year old and a 3 year old, I know your concern. To figure this out, let me start by asking this...Did you let your 14 year old read ALL four books in The Twilight Saga? If you answered yes then The Host is perfectly fine and you have nothing to worry about. Even if you answered no, the most intimate chapters in The Twilight Saga makes anything remotely intimate in The Host seem even with Harry Potter romance. So finally, my answer to your question is...in my opinion....if you have a 14 year old that wants to read anything written by Stephanie Meyer she can get her hands on, definitely encourage it all the way. If you still have any qualms about it, read it for yourself first and make your own judgement since you are the only one who knows your daughter well enough to know if she is ready for the book.(You will enjoy it too!)
