Actually, I got mine from a book (if I told you what book, you'd just laugh. =P), then photoshopped it and made it the color & size I wanted.

I havent actually got a tatto yet (still trying to work up the courage) but my brother wants to be a tattoo artist so the first one I get will be one of his designs!

I kinda said what I wanted and then he started drawing it and I corrected a little bit and that was it.
Don't think too hard about it, I mean, for all you know you'll hate it in 20 years, so might as well just make it a fun experience and a good memory.

My tattoo artist here in Iceland draw it specially for me :) I agree with hedgemonkey :D I would not want to see some other person wearing the same tattoo as I have, it is suppose to be special :p

although the tattoo with the most meaning is just a simple latin number 13, not really from a book, but also not really creative - it's just personal..

The one I've got is the sign for 'Faith Hope and Love' but I designed it myself because I wanted something different and more simplistic than most adaptations of it.

I would want it to be something special and unique. Though a woman I know has an incredibly detailed tattoo of the rockinghorsefly from Through the Looking Glass, and it's beautiful.
