The Ranger's Apprentice Question

*SPOILERS* Anyone else notice the continuity error when Horace gets strangled in book 9?

Okay so you know in book 9 when the Genoveson (sp?), that Will captured, attacks Horace when he (Horace) falls asleep on sentry duty? The Genoveson strangles Horace by tightening a cord around his neck. The last we hear about Horace is that he (Horace) thinks he is dying and he blacks out. When Will attacks the Genoveson, the Genoveson does not know if Horace is dead or unconscious. THEN, we have pages and pages with not one mention of Horace until Will gets back form hunting (the next day?) and realises there might not be quite enough meat from the animal he killed with the amount HORACE will eat. Great. We now know Horace is alive. I GET the reason for suspense, to keep readers wondering if Horace is dead or alive, up until this point. But then, there is absolutely no mention of Horace's near death experience! No 'Gee Will it's good you stepped in right at that very second otherwise I'd be dead' or 'Is your neck alright Horace?'. NOTHING. All this yadda yadda yadda about Halt needing to recover and stuff, and no mention of Horace. It just reads as very poorly written and edited, that part. It's like the author changed something at the last minute then forgot to change something else so now it's messed up and we have this big Horace ordeal with no follow up. Very sloppy in my opinion, and disappointing too as the writing in other parts or this book, and the rest of the series for that matter, has, for the most part, been very good.
