What are the Vampire Daries books about?

Well.. There are many difference between the books and the series first of all:

Jeremy isnt in the book, Elena has a little 4yr old sister named Margaret.
-Elena has Blonde hair and blue eyes...in the show she doesnt
-Katherine supposedly killed herself by taking off her ring, so she burned in the sun. In the show she was trapped in a burning church.
-Stefan in the book lives in a boarding house with an old lady named mrs. Flowers, in the show he lives with his nephew.
-Caroline is not that nice in the book, she tries to run Stefan out of town.
-Tyler tried to hurt Elena in the graveyard but Stefan saved her.
-Vickie never turned into a vampire...she was just attacked by Katherine and later killed by Klaus
-Honoria Fell was the one possessing Bonnie not Emily, oh and Bonnie has red curly hair in the book.
-Elena's diary seemed to be an important part in the book...not so much in the show.
-Elena's aunt isnt named Jenna...its Judith
-Elena has another best friend named Meredith in the book

Elena turned into a vampire and later into a spirit.. There are werewolves.. You can probably search spoilers somewhere if you want to, but the books are a nice, easy read, and you get through them quickly, so if you have the time, I'd say read them! I love them <3 <3
