It's not always the first one that gets chosen. A perfect example actually lies within another book written by L.J called "Dark Visions". At first Kaitlyn was with her soulmate Rob, but in the end she chose bad boy Gabriel. If L.J has gone that route once, she won't be afraid to do so again!

haha true! but still at the end of the book she was just with Stefan and she saw Damon human and didn't think much of it except that he will probably struggle with it.

THERES 2 MORE BOOKS MAYBE... LJ SMITH SAID IT HER SELF.. AND YEAH NO SPOLIER OF DAMON DIENG.. BUT I JUST WANTED TO SEE WHO COMMENT... AND I LOVE DAMON BUT I THINK.. THIS IS MY OPPINION.. HE WILL DIE AT THE END.... OR MAYBE STAY WITH BONNIE !! :D

L.J. never said that. It's a fact that there's only one more book in the return TRILOGY to come out... hence why it's called a trilogoy. However she did mention something about a possible prequel triology.
