Why is it bad for another vampire to feed off another vampire's blood?

In Season 4 Episode 2, "Memorial" Damon gives Elena his blood to drink and I don't get why he told her not to tell Stefan. Damon also said it was "kind of personal". And Stefan got jealous or mad at Damon for giving Elena his blood and got upset with Elena for drinking Damon's blood instead of his.... so my question is WHY IS IT SUCH A BIG DEAL TO DRINK ANOTHER VAMPIRE'S BLOOD WHEN YOUR A VAMPIRE??
