How can you ask us that? None of the couples are shallow, just each has some flaws: Stefan and Elena happened kinda quick, Damon and Elena went from him hoping she died and trying to turn her or kill her to I care about him, we're friends in like one episode, and Damon and Bonnie aren't a real couple so...??

well Damon is only really effected or cares fo Elena or Katherine, so he'd be settling for Bonnie, no real love, and Bonnie is slightly shallow because she only liked Ben because he was hot, and her first impressions of stefan were "Hot back" so her attraction could quiet possibly be looks

DB - Damon would just be settling for second best, plus it's out of character on his part, seeing as he's supposed to be falling in love with Elena, so it wouldn't make sense for him to suddenly fall in love with Bonnie or someone else. It took him over 145 years to get over Katherine and he still hasn't, so how long would it take to get over Elena?! The writers would be jumping the shark if Bamon happened and I for one wouldn't find it believeable as it would ruin Damon's character, therefore I wouldn't be watching anymore TVD.

If he doesn't get Elena, it would hurt him more than it hurt when he lost Katherine. there's no way he'd end up with Bonnie.. or it would be really lame, and i wouldn't wanna see the show anymore... that's just not who Damon is, and how he acts. If he opens himself to love, he's a keeper. he won't give her up that easily.

If its one thing DE is not, it’s rushed. They have a believable build up on their relationship. Julie Plec even said that Damon have a long road to go before he gets “man worthy” for Elena – so how can you call them rushed?

I never saw anything between them in the books other than a little friendship growing.

And in the show there is absolutely nothing.

But that could be because the show Bonnie and book Bonnie are very very different IMO.
