He is in love with elena, but in the first episode of season 2 he snaps Jeremy's neck? If trying to kill elena's brother is his idea of saying "I love you", then he has a pretty sick way of showing it! I thought he was trying to get elena to fall in love with him? Honestly, is he very smart? I don't think so!! Damon can go ahead and make all of the excuses he wants, but it still won't justify any of the terrible things he does! The only way that I will ever like Damon, is if he starts caring about someone other than himself. He needs to be selfless, rather than selfish! The only person I have ever seen Damon care about is Elena and even then, he still treats her like crap! He's has his humanity switched off for nearly 150 years - not surprised they're all over the place. And as Elena stated at the end of the episode, hate is the only thing Damon can seem to bring naturally to himself. I personally think it's due to the fact he's never had anyone on his side in his life. And Damon hasn't been screaming the world owes him since the first half of season 1. He began to protect the people he cares about (Stefan with the tomb vampires for example) and protecting Mystic Falls itself. posted over a year ago.

	fifthbitten picked Yes! it was so sad and cruel: disclaimer lol - this is just an opinion :) have you ever tried to bury your emotions, just decide that you don't want to deal with them so you push them so far away that for a while you think your ok. but you for example end up watching a really sad movie and all of a sudden you are crying but you cant stop and you keep crying and crying until you realize that you are no longer crying because of the movie but because of your repressed emotions. its not normal or healthy for a human being to do that, and normally you can't repress those emotions for long until you explode. well imagine repressing your emotions for 145 years...stuff like, guilt, anger, sadness, betrayal, never feeling good enough, always being the second best, and never being loved unconditionally. then slowly you start feeling all of that again, everything you've tried to forget...then add two woman who you love, and both on the same day tell you that they never love you or couldn't ever love you...and that it was always your brother...(and he is the one that you have been second best to your whole life and unlife) no wonder Damon snapped...i don't know if i could even handle all of that pain in my human lifetime.....and i think it was said that all vampires feelings are magnified so i would imagine that it hurts Damon ten times more that it would us so no i don't think he deserves any of the crap he's been put through...he was sooooo different when he was human, he was sweet and innocent but he is broken, and lonely,...and he deserve to have some form of happiness....I'm not condoning all the horrible things he has done in his long life time...i think it was wrong and horrible what he did to Jeremy but i seriously have no idea how he is even still going on. goodness wow i wrote a lot lol :) posted over a year ago.
