(All of this story is not based on actual Winx Club fact. Well... Most of it isn't.)
One day, I, a girl named Amber was going on a walk with my dog, Smokey. My dog's ears pricked up and he started to bark. I shushed him and saw a bright flash in the trees. I tied him up to a tree and slowly crawled over and peeked over a bush. I couldn't believe what she saw! There was a fairy fighting a giant five-headed dog! The dog spit poison at her and the fairy screamed, "Star Shield!" Then, a shield shaped like a star popped up in front of her! By now, I was pretty freaked out. The dog pounced on top of the girl and was about to kill her when I just jumped out from the bushes and yelled, "Leave her alone!" As soon as I did it, I regretted it because all five of the dog's heads turned toward mer. Good news was the dog had forgotten all about the fairy and she was safe. The bad news was that I was about to become a puddle of Amber. The dog spit poison at me and I put out my hand. Before I knew what was happening, I had a shield made of fire in front of me and the dog had a look of terror on it's face. The dog yelped and ran away. The girl was sitting on the ground looking really pale. I walked over to her and offered her a water bottle from my bag. The girl took a drink from it and smiled appreciatively. "My name is Amber. What's yours?", I asked. "Ehving." "That's a nice name. Where do you live?" "Solaria, the planet of the sun and the moon." My eyes got wide and I said, "I take it that's not a joke?" Ehving looked at me and shook her head slowly. I said, "This whole fairy thing has been new to me... well... since when I saw you." Ehivng looked surprised and said, "Well then how did you pull up that shield." I shrugged and said, "No idea." Ehving's eyes widened and she said, "You should go to Alfea, the college for fairies! It's where fairies learn to harness their powers and meet new friends that are fairies too." Ehving suddenly looked sad and said, "I go there too, only I haven't made any friends yet." I thought about it and nodded. Ehving squealed with happiness and said, "Yay! Now I will have a friend there! We should probably wait until tomorrow to go back to Alfea. I don't think I have enough power back yet to bring us there today."
Ehving tried to stand and fell back down. This time I helped her stand up and had her put her arm around my shoulders for support. "I only live across the street from here. It won't take us that long at all to get there." We walked until they got to Smokey and I untied him from the tree. We walked across the street with Smokey leading a foot ahead. Finally, we were at the door of a two-level apartment. I opened it and helped Ehving onto the couch in the living room. I got Ehving some water out of the fridge and put some ice cubes in it. I gave it to her and asked her if she wanted anything else. "Could I please have a snack? Other than that, I don't need anything else." I nodded and got her some pretzels and chips. She scarfed them down and drank the rest of the water. "Is there anyplace for me to get some rest?" I answered, "There is a guest room across the hall from my room. You could sleep there. My mom will be home from work in about an hour." Ehving nodded and went into the guest room. I sighed and threw the plate and cup away. I was exhausted too. I went into my room and did my homework. I heard my mom open the door and walk up the stairs. My mom peeked her head in the door and said, "You're doing homework? Good. Did you have anything to eat yet?" I shook my head, put down my pencil and followed my mom out the door. I had a salad and milk and went back up to my room. I finished up my homework and went to sleep. I woke up in the morning and went to check on Ehving. I knocked and went in the guest room. Ehving was still in bed, but she was waking slowly. Ehving yawned and turned toward me. She slid off the bed and said, "You might want to get ready to go. We're leaving in about an hour." I went into back into my bathroom and took a shower. I brushed my teeth and hair, got dressed, and met Ehving in the hall. We walked downstairs and had a muffin (me) and cereal (Ehving) for breakfast. I went back upstairs and packed a suitcase and backpack with clothes, a hairbrush, and some of my treasured belongings. I pulled up the handle on the suitcase, threw the backpack over my shoulder and went back downstairs. I grabbed a coat from the closet and a pair of suede boots. I put on the coat and boots and threw the bag back over my shoulder. "I'm ready." Ehving pulled out a staff with a star at the top and slammed the bottom on the ground.
When I looked up, I was standing in front of a big pink and blue building with a huge fence around it. I looked at Ehving, who smiled and said, "Welcome to Alfea." I gaped at everything as they walked through the iron gates on the front of the fence. There were groups of girls walking around talking and laughing on their way to class. "So what do we learn here? What are the classes?" "Umm... Some are battle class, potions class, transformations class, and, my favorite, Winxology." "Like, the Winx Club?" "Yep. They teach it. It's the best class ever! You'll love it too as soon as you have it. Oh! There's Mirta. Hey Mirta!" I followed her as she ran up to a girl with a slanted red crop cut and a blue highlight strung with beads. "Amber, this is Mirta. Mirta, this is Amber." Mirta looked at me and back at Ehving. "Freshman?" "Yep." "Power classified?" Ehving shook her head no and looked at Amber. "Planet?" "Earth, as far as we know." I looked at Mirta with surprise at asking this many questions. Mirta smiled and said, "Ehving is like the freshman gossip queen. You want to know something she'll tell you or find out. She's like our own personal blog site." Ehving blushed and said, "I'm not that good." The bell rang and Mirta waved goodbye and ran off. Ehving whispered, "At least not yet." We smiled at each other and ran up the steps. Ehving stuck her arm out in front of me to stop me, and I could see why. Right out in front of us was a mob of people craning for a look up the stairs at... another five-headed dog. This one, however, was dead. Ehving and I looked at each other with worry. Ms. Faragonda was inspecting it and Ms. Grizelda was standing nearby calming the students. Everyone was freaking out... Except Ehving and I. The one in the park was bigger than this one, and it smelled worse too. This one almost looked like... a puppy. Mirta whispered to us, "Why aren't you guys freaking out?! This isn't normal!" We looked at each other and Ehving whispered to Mirta, "We'll explain later." The three of us snuck back outside and in the west entrance. "Well... That was interesting." Ehving nodded in agreement and elbowed Mirta, who nodded as well. Mirta said, "You were going to tell me why you didn't freak out." Ehving took a deep breath and said, "We met one much bigger than that in her town. That one was way smaller than the one that Amber chased away! All by herself!" Mirta looked at me in surprise and I shrugged. "How?" "She put up a shield." "What kind?" "It looked like it was made of fire." Mira's eyes widened and Ehving nodded. "I know. That was the exact same shield Bloom pulled up before she came to Alfea." She was talking to both of us in the last sentence. The intercom went on and Ms. Faragonda said, "Everything is fine now. You may go to class." The three of us looked at each other and walked towards the north entrance again.
I followed Ehving to cooking class and set my books down on a desk next to Ehving. I heard a throat clear and turned around to see a girl glaring at me. "That's my spot. Find your own, freshman." I glared back and said, "I was here first and I'm not moving anywhere. The seats aren't assigned specifically." Ehving pulled on my shirt sleeve as if to say 'don't take this fight' but I didn't care. I'd seen plenty of people like this at my old school, and I hated them. My ex-best friend was one of them too. I glared harder at the girl and asked, "What's your name?" "Elizabeth.", she spat. "And yours?" "Amber" Her eyes shot daggers at me, but I didn't back down. Like my mom always says, 'Never back down no matter how impossible the fight may seem. Just keep your head up and your heart strong.' I took a step foward and she backed away. "What? You scared you're gonna ruin your million dollar manicure?" She snorted, turned on her heal, and went to the back of the classroom. I felt good. I sat back down and Ehving said to me, "That was pretty brave Amber. She couldv'e killed you or-" "But she didn't." "Ruined your reputation, or-or-or..." "But she didn't! And that's the important thing." Ehving nodded with tears brimming her eyes. "What's wrong, Spacey? Afraid you're so poor you won't even be able to afford dinner?" My hands balled into fists. Apparently, this girl didn't go down easy. I spun around so fast, I was surprised I was even able to keep my balance. "What is your deal?! Do you have something against people who are so much better than you? Or are you just scared that if you actually faced us, you would get your butt whipped so hard, you would be on Earth by the time you realized what hit you?" You could practically see the smoke pouring out if her ears. She grit her teeth and said, "Watch your back freshman 'cause you're ssoooo gonna regret that. We have battle class next so I hope you brought your security blanket. You're gonna need it after this beat-down." She pivoted on her heal again and went back to the desk in the back. I sat down again and sighed. This was going to be a long year. Ehving looked at me again, face white as a sheet with worry. I gave her a smile and the teacher walked in. "Okay class. As I said yesterday, we will be making chicken fajitas today. Spilt up into your groups and start off." Everybody bunched up and went to stations. Ehving and I went up to the teacher and he looked at us. "Yes?" Ehving looked at me and back at him and said, "Amber is new so... Where should she go?" He looked at us and said, "She can join your group. You can explain the project to her, right?" Ehving nodded and he shooed us away. We looked at each other and walked to a station. "Amber, this is Ginger, Ella, and Allysa." Each of them waved to me in turn. Allysa was a blonde with pink go go boots and a plaid mini skirt. Ella was also blonde, but she wore a green dress and purple gloves. Ginger was another blonde and she wore a purple and green tank-top and a pair of capris. "Okay... So what do we do?" Ginger was the one that answered. "We are supposed to follow these directions to make fajitas. We can add anything else as well, but we have to add these." I looked at the list and my face broke out into a smile.
"Okay. Ginger, Allysa, and Ella, you find these ingredients. Ehving, I need a bowl, a wooden spoon, a whisk, and a pan." They all rushed to follow my instructions. "Okay. The three of you, I also need a guacamole, a tomato, some cheese, and some parsley." They looked for those ingredients and I started on the fajita itself. I had Ehving hand me whatever I needed, and pretty soon, the base was done. I smashed guacamole on a plate and blended the tomato into paste. "Ten minutes class!" Allysa looked at me and said, "Hurry!" I put the guacamole and tomato paste into the fajita, then sprinkled the cheese in too. I popped them into the oven and waited. Nine minutes passed and the oven timer beeped. I took them out and let them cool. "Time's up!" I quickly sprinkled the parsley over the tops of them and put one on a plate. I brought it up to the front and stood in the line. He went down the line. "Gag, so-so, good, so-so..." He came to me and took a bite. I held my breath as he chewed it. He nodded slowly and started to smile. "Great! This one is the winner!" My group cheered and Elizabeth gave me a dirty look. Out of all of them, her group was the only one that got a gag. My group ran over and hugged me. I just about died of oxygen deprivation, but they let go before I did. The bell rang and I grabbed my stuff and went to battle class. I went outside and sat down in a line with the rest of the class. There was a pile of books that I set my stuff down in. Ms. Grizelda walked out in front of us and said, "Okay. I need two volunteers. Um... Elizabeth and... you." I swallowed hard. She was pointing at me. I stood up and went up to stand by her. "You two will try to battle. If you have no powers, then good luck. Begin!" Elizabeth glared at me and shouted, "Charmix!" She transformed and flew into the air. I backed up slowly, and she followed me. "Bubble Ray!" A blast of bubbles shot at me, and I did the only thing that made sense. I put my hand out in front of me and closed my eyes. I heard a gasp and opened them. Elizabeth was flat on her butt, her own spell deflected back at her. She glared at me even harder and jumped up on her feet. "Bubble Ray! Foam Storm! Bubble charge! Bubble Sphere!" A shield popped up around her on the last one, and I had three spells charging at me. I jumped up above the low one, ducked the high one, and sidestepped the middle one. No one was going to get me. A voice said, "Anyone to Winxology next, please bring a power orb." Elizabeth shot a spell towards the voice and... it was Bloom. I did the only thing I could think of. I jumped in front of the spell. The spell hit me full in the chest and I blacked out.
When I woke up, I was on a stretcher being rushed to the nurse's office. I groaned and that was enough for them. They set me down and my vision solidified. It was Ms. Grizelda, Ehving, and... Bloom. I rubbed my eyes and stared again just make sure, and yes, it was her. She smiled at me and I froze. Ehving asked, "Are you okay? That was quite the shot." I nodded and sat up. Ehving screamed and for the first time, I realized that my foot was... on fire. I gasped and thought about it. I willed the fire to calm with my mind, and it died down until it was just a spark, and then that disappeared. Ehving looked at me and said, "How did you do that?!" I thought about it and said, "Bloom... don't you have an older sister?" She nodded and said, "Her name is Daphne. Why?" "I need to talk to her." She nodded again and replied, "I'll see if I can contact her." She motioned for me to follow her and led me to the library. We sat down at a table and Bloom said, "Daphne? Are you there, sis?" The air started to swirl and Daphne appeared. "What can I do for you Bloom?" My eyes got wide and I started to say something, but Bloom shushed me. "Actually, this girl wants something." Daphne turned towards me and said, "What's your name?" I stuttered and said, "Amber." Her eyes got wide. "Where do you live Amber?" "New York City." Her eyes got even wider and she said, "I don't think that you are supposed to live in New York." "What?" "You are supposed to live on... Domino." She turned toward Bloom and said, "This is your baby sister." We looked at each other and said, "What!?" Daphne sighed and said, "I guess I'll start at the beginning. When you were only one, Bloom, our parents had another child named Amber." She nodded towards me. "This was about a month before the ancestral witches came. They knew that it was too dangerous for an infant during those times. So, they gave you to me to take to Earth. I took you down and gave you to a very nice family. That wasn't the end of it though. The ancesterals had known that mom was going to have a baby, and they went out searching for her. To be safe, mom and dad wiped your memories, Bloom's memories, and made you three years older. Bloom never knew that you existed. They left my memories in case the ancesterals were ever defeated and they weren't there. That way I could retrieve you, Amber. That was when things went terribly wrong. Domino was attacked, and mother and father were captured and held captive in Obsidian. Bloom rescued them about two years ago, but they were never th e same since." Bloom and I looked at each other and burst into tears. We held each other in a hug for what felt like hours, but I knew it was only minutes. "So... Welcome to the family sis."
We said goodbye to Daphne and walked back outside. Bloom and I didn't talk until we reached the doors that led outside. She paused and sighed. "I'm sorry." "For what?" "Everything. For not being there for you, for not realizing, and for not helping when you needed it." "Our parents wiped our memories. You couldn't have known who I was. It's not your fault." She sighed again and nodded slowly. "I guess so." She opened the doors and we went outside. Ms. Grizelda said, "Well. We're happy to have you back, Amber. Hope you are feeling better." I nodded and Bloom whispered in my ear, "If you ever need anything, sis, I'll be there to help." She winked at me and walked away. I walked into the line again. "Okay class. As a bonus question, what is the transformation that can be gained when you save a person from your planet?" I froze. Someone answered, "Enchanitx." "Very good, Rose!" I was hardly listening. Did that mean that I had Enchantix?" Was I actually a level up on Elizabeth? I raised my hand and asked, "Can I try battling Elizabeth again?" Ms. Grizelda was surprised by the question, but she nodded. I walked up with confidence this time and Elizabeth looked at me with surprise as she went up to the front too. "Charmix!" Elizabeth looked at me again and shrugged. "Are you going to transform? Oh, that's right. You can't!" "That's where you're wrong. Enchantix!" She gasped as I transformed. "You earn it by saving someone from your planet? Well then. Welcome to the Domino side of things, Elizabeth. Enchantix Fire Ball!" She screamed as my spell hit her full on in the chest. Everyone cheered and held me up in the air. The lunch bell ran and we all ran inside. Ehving and I walked slowly so we could talk in peace. "How did you do that?!" I looked at her and said, "Can you keep a secret?" She nodded and I went on. "Bloom and I are sisters." She looked at me with surprise and I nodded. "I just found out today when we talked to Daphne." She gaped at me and I smiled. I saw Bloom with Stella and Musa and ran up to them with Ehving close in my footsteps. Stella said, "We don't have time for autographs, freshman. Get lost." Bloom laughed and said, "Just ignore Stella. She can be a bit of a pushover." "Hey!" "No offense, Stella." Stella grumbled and went towards the cafeteria. "So, what can I do for you?" "You want to sit with us?" "Hmm... Let me think... Yes!" We laughed and went towards the cafeteria too, with Ehving and Musa close in our footsteps. Bloom motioned towards the table with the rest of the Winx at it, and everyone except for Stella got up. Finally, Stella grumbled some more and got up too. Ehving pointed out the table that was empty except for Ginger, Ella, and Allysa. They looked in our direction and their eyes got wide. They started to whisper between them and stopped as soon as we reached the table. Bloom and I sat down, with Ehving and Musa across from us. The rest of the Winx joined us and looked at Bloom for explanation.
"I just wanted to sit with Amber.", Bloom said. The rest of the Winx obviously didn't buy it. "How do you know Amber so well anyway?", asked Aisha. Bloom was about to speak when Allysa interrupted her. "Because Amber jumped in front of a spell that Elizabeth shot at Bloom." The Winx looked at me and I wanted to disappear. Ehving said, "There's more to it than that." She looked at me and I nodded for her to go on. Better coming out of her mouth than out of mine. "Bloom is... Amber's older sister." Everyone at the table gasped and the people at the surrounding table looked at us. We quieted and Musa whispered, "Her sister?!" Bloom nodded and said, "I just found out fifteen minutes ago by Daphne. In other words, she now has her Enchantix after just half a day here!" The Winx looked at me in surprise and amazement. I wanted to disappear again and I sank down in my seat. "Stop it. You're making her uncomfortable. Bloom put her arm around me and glared at the Winx. Flora apologized and elbowed the rest of them, who apologized as well. "So... She has the Dragon Fire too?", Stella asked. Bloom nodded. "Wow. Two with the Dragon Fire is definitely a double threat." Bloom and I looked at each other and smiled. "Are you thinking the same thing as I am?" I nodded and said, "If you are thinking that we use this against Elizabeth." She nodded back and a devious smile spread across her face. "Time for plan sisterhood. We meet after school in my dorm to start." I nodded and the bell rang, signaling that it was time to go back to class. I went to potions and saw Mirta. I waved to her and ran over to sit down by her. We chatted until class started and then the teacher walked in. "Good morning class." "Good morning Mr. Carter." They said it like they were used to saying it all day, which they probably were. I looked at him earnestly, ready to start class. "Today, we will be making a bubbling brew. Be careful, because it will explode if you don't do it right." The look Mirta gave me told me he was dead serious. "I am so going to fail this." Mirta put her hand on my shoulder and said, "Don't worry about it. You'll do fine." I nodded, but I wasn't so sure about that. "Okay. Everyone to their stations" Mirta pulled my arm over to an empty station near hers. "I put the instructions up on the board, so everyone get to work!" I followed all the instructions very carefully and finished with ten seconds to spare. "Time's up! I will be coming around to test your potions!" I turned toward Mirta and flashed her a smile. Suddenly my feet started to shake. Mirta gasped and pointed towards my cauldron. There was a dust floating in there that wasn't there before, and then it dissolved, and the whole thing exploded. The rest of the students were lucky enough to put up a shield, but I didn't think of doing that. My entire body was covered from head to foot in pink gunk. It smelled like rotten eggs and vinegar! The bell rang and I grabbed my stuff and ran out as fast as I could.
The only reasons good enough to make me stay were Ehving and Bloom. If not for them, I would've been out of here already. I ran all the way into the Winxology room and collapsed in front of the front desk, sobbing. I heard a pair of feet walking across the floor and saw Bloom hovering over me. She sat down next to me and said, "You want to say what happened?" Her voice was gentle as she stared at me with worried eyes. I nodded and said, "I'm pretty sure that Elizabeth put something in my bubble brew in potions. I saw a dust that I know wasn't in there before it started shaking." She pulled some goop out of my hair and smelled it. "Volcano dust. Comes straight from the volcano flowers of Solaria. It must have been Elizabeth." She helped me up, not caring about the goop that coated her hands. She helped me into the bathroom next door and said a spell to wash off most of the goop. My hair still was sticking up in all directions, and I still reeked, but the goop was mostly gone. "I'll be right back. I'm gonna go tell Musa to start class without me and get Stella. We're gonna need all the help we can get." She shut the door behind her and came back about a minute later with Stella close behind. Stella gasped and said, "What happened to her?" "Elizabeth." "The freshman from Solaria?" Bloom nodded. "Oh, you poor thing. Don't worry. You'll be good as new in no time. Well... Maybe not new, but close to it." She pulled a bottle of shampoo out of her bag and said, "Bloom, lock the door. I can't have anyone disturbing my concentration." Bloom said a spell to lock the door and turned back to us. Stella made a chair appear and sat me down on it. She pushed it up to the sink and put shampoo in my hair. She washed that out and started on conditioner. Then, she used a spell to dry my hair super fast and combed it out. She finished it off with a headband and stepped back to admire her work. "Perfect. Now, for the outfit." She pulled out a cell phone shaped device and scanned my outfit. Then, she pointed it back at me. Suddenly, I was wearing a jean skirt and a cute two layer top, still with the same suede boots. I admired my outfit and said, "Perfect." Stella smiled and put a charm bracelet on my wrist. It had charms of all the different planets that the Winx Club lived on. Zenith, Andros, Melody, Lynphea, Solaria, and the biggest one was Domino. I smiled back at her and said, "Lets get back to class. So it doesn't seem so suspicious, I'll come a minute after you." They nodded and went out of the bathroom. I waited a minute and went into the classroom. Musa looked at me and said, "Glad you could join us. Detention for a week." I gasped and sat down. I was shocked. Bloom countered to Musa, "I say one hour. Stella?" Stella nodded. Bloom mouthed to Musa, "I'll explain later."
I sat down and the class turned to look at me. "Eww! What smells?" Elizabeth. I growled in the back of my throat. Just stay calm. No reason to start a fight. I looked at Bloom, my eyes screaming, "Help me!" She understood right away and said, "Okay class. We will be starting off with a partner project. Anyone who doesn't have a partner will be paired up with one of us." Everyone rushed to pick a partner. Pretty soon everyone had a partner... Except me. I stared at Bloom and pleaded with my eyes. She nodded and came over to me. "Okay. Amber and I will demonstrate." I looked at her with a look that said, "Are you kidding me? What are you dragging me into?" She pulled me up front and Aisha scrunched up her nose. Bloom glared at her, and she unscrunched it. "Okay. We will be demonstrating the fire-shield-counter-twist." My eyes got wide. Sounded complex. I gathered up all my determination and readied myself. "Get ready, set, go! Fire Ball!" "Fire Shield!" Her spell bounced off my shield and I countered with "Meteor Attack!" A ball of rock and fire shot out of my hand and Bloom shot back into the wall. I finished it off with "Lava Twister!" as she got up. She fell down again and smiled. "That was amazing! Alright, now the rest of you try it!" The groups split up and were shouting spells all over the room. Bloom waved me over to her and said, "How about we take a break?" I nodded and sank down the wall until I was sitting next to her. She pulled out a bottle of water and handed it to me. She pulled out another one for herself and sighed. She smiled at me and said, "Great shot sis!" I smiled back and opened the water. We sat there until everyone else seemed bored. Bloom stood back up and said, "Great job everybody! We have about five minutes left, so we can just talk for that time." She sat back down and I waved Mirta over to us. She walked over and sat down on the other side of me. She smiled at Bloom and turned to me. "Great moves!" "Thanks. I was scared to death, but it wasn't that bad once I got into it." Bloom took my hand and squeezed it. The bell rang and Mirta and I walked out. I went to transformations and sat by Allysa. "Hey Lyss. How are you?" "Good" Class went by super fast and before I knew it, it was the end of the day. I found my dorm and went in. I was sharing with Allysa, Ginger, Ehving, Mirta, and Ella. I think I am going to like it here.
Ehving looked at me and shook her head slowly. I said, "This whole fairy thing has been new to me... well... since when I saw you." Ehivng looked surprised and said, "Well then how did you pull up that shield." I shrugged and said, "No idea." Ehving's eyes widened and she said, "You should go to Alfea, the college for fairies!
