Traditional Vampires Question

Shouldn't moonlight kill vampires?

For those vampire that get insinerated by sunlight, shouldn't moonlight kill them too, as all moonlight is, is reflected sunlight?
Maybe it's a flaw in the mystery of vampires or there's a logical expliantion i havn't thought of.

My theory is that its not "light" that harms them but the uv rays the sun emits. Where humans get tan, vampires get burns. Since moon light is a reflection of the sun it doesn't have the same uv rays that harm vampires. Its also why we dont get moontans lol :)

Good point and I'm gonna go with twilight102's guess because for all I know it's always said the SUNlight will kill them. For all I've understood it HAS to be a direct sunlight. In other words that daylight as it is, is not yet the thing that kills - if the sun is hiding behind clouds, they can survive. But that is so unpretictable and for short times that they better just stay completely covered up during daytime.

Thats actualy quiet a good point. Could it be that the moons light isnt as strong as the sun light and is maybe not strong enough to effect them . ?

No i DO NOT THINK so moonlight is not as strong as sunlight is so it should not kill any vampire

I think that sunlight creates the daytime, and since vampires are creatures of the night, they are repelled by it. Since moonlight has to do with night, it wouldn't harm them.

Because the moon & the sun is different. Duh lol the Sun is over a trillion degrees hot up close. Not to mention the UV rays the sun gives off.

You do know that moonlight is nothing more than the moon reflecting the sun's light, yes?

So? Still not harmful enough since it's nighttime & it's cooler.

I agree on that, its just your original answer made it sound like they are two different things.

Dr_Alucard said:
Vampires are never burned by sunlight. This is an inaccuracy started by modern media. In reality, vampires gain greatly increased stamina, strength, and energy, as well as expanded mental capacities by nightfall, due to the sunlight being "purified" by mercury in the moon rocks on the surface. When faced with direct sunlight, their powers are canceled out, and they become lethargic, slower and weaker than a regular human, and bleed internally if they try to attempt overworking themselves in daylight. Shade does little to negate the effects, but does give a breather.
