In the biology scene...what the hell is a fan doing there?

Its Washington...everyone is wearing coats and sweaters and its raining.
WHAT THE HELL is a fan doing in the room?

yeah...i agree..but i think they should do better thn tht...probably they suppose to let edward feel uncomfortable once bella sit next to him..
