In the book 'The Return: Nightfall Vol 1' is Elena still a vampire, why doesn't she remember anything. What is happening because in the 4th book she come back from the ded and it ended there but then it went to Damon watching Caroline someone help!

Elena is not a vampire in The Return: Nightfall. She was killed as a vampire in the original series whilst killing Katherine and saving Damon & Stefan. At the end of the original series, she comes back to life as a spirit to defeat Klaus. Nightfall begins right where the other book left off, with Elena reborn as a spirit-being.
