Vegetarians Question

Just a couple of questions

Ok, I'm not a vegetarian, but before you try to kick me out of your spot, I just wanna know more about being a vegetarian.
I cannot imagine a life without meat, so I can't consider leading a vegetarian life, but I wanna see it from your point of view.
1.First off, I want to know what the difference between a vegetarian and a vegan is.
2.Second, what has being a vegetarian/vegan done for you, apart from the good feeling of 'self-control'?
3.WHY did you choose this lifestyle? I mean, is there a POINT?
4.Is it hard? Do you ever see bacon or chicken wings and think: How am I ever gonna pull tis off?

I KNOW I can look some of these questions up on the internet, but I wanna know it from people that actually know what's going on.
I can't trust any website, apart from fanpop:D

1. To put it simply, vegans are the next step up in comparison to vegetarians. Vegans do not eat anything from an animal (milk, eggs, etc.). Vegetarians may occasionally eat milk or eggs (some even fish). I'm a vegetarian that eats eggs (for protein).
2. Although I truly love animals, I also became vegetarian as a dietary aid. I feel more energetic, I have already lost weight and I am saving lots of money at the grocery store (college kid...this is important to me).
3. (See answer #2) Plus the main point for most people would be, if you're a true humanitarian can you also cause specisim? (specism is a term for feeling that other species on earth are inferior)
4. No I do not believe it's hard. I was never much of a meat eater though (I have never liked bacon). After not eating it, you really don't miss it. And you crave foods that are good for you. (I eat strawberries like it's my job). I would not say that I have great self control, but I am confident that I will stick to this.

1- "Vegetarian" refers to someone who doesn't eat anything you have to kill a live animal to eat. "Vegan" is a subcategory of this, these people don't consume any animal products whatsoever, like honey or milk or eggs.

2- I have saved many animals' lives, I am skinny, even though I love sweets and eat them all the time. Plus, it gives me something to be proud of!

3- Think of it this way: You're minding your own business eating your donuts, when a giant bear reaches his hand through your roof and eats you. That's what the animals get from us.

4- No way! I look at meat and think, "Eww! That's disgusting!!"

Hi i think it's great you're asking real veggies for info:
1. a vegan to my belief is someone who doesn't eat dairy as well as no meat (i myself have recently turned vegan from being a veggie).
2. Becoming a veggie has made me much healthier: i no longer get ill i.e. colds, flu, stomach upsets. I am also at a healthy weight that is easy to maintain. I am not as lethargic and generally more happy in life. And obviously the knowledge that i don't help mass slaughterhouse productions.
3. From a very young age i never liked meat and my mother would always force me to eat it. I could never digest the food very well and found it strange that humans would eat another animal. When i found what exactly they did to animals for meat (look up peta) and what is actually considered meat (macdonalds) i was instantly put off.
4. When i first started to become veggie i naturally missed certain things but i think it was just because i was used to it rather than liking the taste. This is why i gradually weened myself off meat till i no longer wished for it. Anyways there are amazing veggie/vegan recipes out there that taste wonderful.
Hope that helped : )

1. Vegans eat nothing that came from an animal in any way, like cheese or milk.
2. It's made me healthier and I just feel better in myself.
3. I chose it because my sister said she was becoming one, and explained why, and I thought that I agreed with her, so became one too.
4. I never struggle with it. I didn't eat much meat anyway, and Quorn tastes the same.

1. A vegetarian is a person who does not eat meat and eggs. A vegan is a person who doesn't have any animal products- that includes milk, milk products, honey, etc.
2. I dunno, I've been a vegetarian all my life.
3. See above for first part. And yes, there is a point. You aren't killing other creatures unnecessarily. Plus, the carbon footprint of the average meat-eater is more than that of a vegetarian. So from an ecological point of view, it makes sense.
4. I was born vegetarian so I don't know, it could be hard but I'm sure you can manage.
