I have come across so many tips on fashion over the years, so today, I went ahead and captured not only the tips I love, but the tips which I personally use and vouch for on a regular basis!
I selected my favourite fashion emergency tips that you can utilise, simply by carrying these items on you, in your handbag – your very own Fashion Emergency Kit.
I can sense your anticipation! So let’s begin with tip number 10 and count down, shall we?
Tip 10 – Collect them and package them in link!
The very first tip I have for YOU is to get yourself this adorable little clear purse for your handbag.
Did you just ask me a very loud and distinct ‘Why?’
Well here’s your answer! BECAUSE you want to go out and spoil yourselves by purchasing these handy fashion emergency items, and then when you do, you are going to neatly want to place them in this gorgeous, feminine and neat purse.
Can you see how perfect this gorgeous see through handbag liner is? And think of how much MORE PERFECT it’s going to be, with your sexy little fashion emergency items I’m about to share with YOU!
Not only are you going to be stylishly organised, BUT you will also have yourself one little upmarket fashion emergency kit, surpassed by none!
So HEY, what are YOU waiting for Ladies? Let’s get GOING, GOING…. GONE to market, to market to purchase our emergency kit products!
Tip 9 – Stop following that ridiculous tip on every other website!
This tip is definitely fresh from the thoughts of Susie Sawaya Sydney.
Now one tip I totally disagree with, and this tip has been the apparent TIP OF ALL TIPS for SO LONG and I’m just about to banish this tip from ever existing again!….. IS THE… CLEAR NAIL POLISH TIP!
The clear nail polish on holes or ladders when you have a hole suddenly appear in your stockings or a ladder starts unravelling on your STOCKINGS is not just a single ‘no’, it’s a no, no, no, no, NO! Just no!
Let’s set the record straight here once and for all. A hole or a ladder on a stocking is just that, a hole and a ladder on a stocking. Everyone can see it, and you know it’s there. For some reason ladders on stockings just draw outsiders eyes right to them. No amount of clear nail polish is going to remove that hole or ladder, and yeah sure it has the potential of stopping the hole or ladder from increasing in either width or length, but it just doesn’t have the ability to make those obvious faults disappear.
So my very obvious tip is documented for you once and for all here.
Ladies, always carry a spare pair of stockings in your handbag, place a spare pair of stockings in your car, and if you work in an office, keep a spare pair of stockings in your office. They are priced to budget-friendly enough to purchase enough to start you off with this back up stocking stash. Just keep these stocking stashes replenished should you need to use a pair during a fashion emergency.
Remember, a classy woman doesn’t use nail polish on her laddered stockings. She removes her stockings and she replaces them with fresh ones.
And finally, don’t buy cheaper versions of your favourite stocking brand as your back up stockings. Spend the resources to ensure you have your perfect stocking brand, on hand, everywhere, all of the time for back up. These emergency tips are not designed as a temporary ‘band-aid’ for your fashion emergencies, they are the REAL DEAL!
So what’s my favourite brand of stockings you ask? Yes, I knew you would ask, and I’ll gladly share with you my all time favourite brand of stockings.
It’s CliO, Slimming Pantyhose Control and I purchase these from my local Woolworths store.
Tip 8 – link (wink, wink)
Often I love to wear a dress without a bra (don’t you just feel that sometimes your girls need to be free?), but simply cannot deal with that whole nipple cripple aspect which comes with a gorgeous dress, no bra, and an end result after a few seconds in the cold!
It’s not something I personally feel comfortable with and I know many women who feel the same way.
The best way to conceal your girls is to utilise these awesome little silicone creations. They are comfortable, they are a snug fit and best of all, they keep your girls well hidden and protected!
Tip 7 – link
I once had a dress which had the hem fall out of it just before a crucial career meeting where I had no choice BUT to look polished.
Thanks to my knowledge and the effort I personally always put into my very own Fashion Emergency Kit, I was saved by double sided tape. Very discreetly I used double sided tape to keep my hem in position, and there it stayed until that evening when I got home and made plans to visit my local seamstress.
However – little did I know that there’s another secret weapon out there called Fashion Tape and this Fashion Tape is a little stronger and has the ability to keep heavier materials stuck in position until you are able to get your item of clothing all sown back into place again.
BUT don’t let these amazing fashion first aid tapes stop there! You can use these tapes for other fashion emergencies and necessities. So for a personal example which I can draw from, I have a gorgeous feature necklace which is stunning, but also impractical because it simply refuses to sit in place down my chest and breast line. I use this double sided tape to keep it sitting in place and looking dazzling, without moving, keeping my complete outfit and ‘look’ incredibly polished right up until the end of the night! The tape is so discreet that no one notices!
Tip 6 – Baby Wipes are for more than just your babies bottom!
Baby Wipes. The end. Haha.
Seriously Baby Wipes are my saviour. I have a packet of baby wipes in my office drawer, a packet of baby wipes in my bathroom, another packet of baby wipes in my car and a small, ittty bitty size packet of baby wipes in my handbag ALONG with an itty bitty packet of dry tissues. They often work hand in hand.
Baby Wipes work super effectively to remove anything from make-up, to spaghetti sauce you accidentally fed to your new shirt.
I often use baby wipes as a midday face refresher to either remove make up and start fresh, or simply to freshen up before my next meeting.
Baby Wipes are also perfect to remove deodorant stains from your outfit. Just grab a wipe and wipe over that deoderant stain which will literally disappear before your very eyes!
Have scuffed patent heels? Baby wipe them, and then dry them with the tissue from your itty bitty packet of dry tissues for an instant clean!
It’s one of the very best fashion tips I can give and if it’s the only tip you use from this list, then it’s your best option!
I purchase my mini travel pack of baby wipes from either Woolworths or Chemist Warehouse, depending on convenience!
Tip 5 – Frizz Frizz go away, on every other rainy day!
Eek – It has been raining all day today and my hair turned into an absolute frizz ball. That is until…. I moisturised it!
You read correctly! The handy dandy moisturiser!
Not only is it obviously perfect to keep your hands moisturised, but on a rainy day, or on any day that your hair isn’t doing the right thing frizz wise, here’s my advice to you:
- Simply begin by washing your hands, you must do this to ensure that you are running clean hands through your hair! (AND… drum rolls… isn’t this handy – if you aren’t near a tap and you actually listened to tip number 6, you will have your itty bitty packet of baby wipes in your hand bag so you can take a wipe and clean your hands, let them dry and then moisturise!)
- Then dry your hands thoroughly (yep you can use that itty bitty packet of tissues I have advised you about in tip number 6!).
- Place some moisturiser into the palm of one of your hands, rub your hands together so that most of the moisturiser has been absorbed by your skin. With the remaining moisturiser, run your hands through your hair, evenly distributing the moisturiser throughout your hair, keeping away from the scalp and focusing from the mid lengths of your hair to the ends!
- It takes away the frizz, adds shine, and until you get through your day / evening, it will work to eliminate any form of frizzy hair dilemmas!
I keep in my Fashion Emergency Kit one 75mL tube of Garnier Naturals Shine Control Moisturiser which I purchase from my local Woolworths store or Chemist Warehouse, depending on convenience!

Recently I purchased a pair of red point heels, which I wear on occasion to match one or two outfits. These shoes are not of my own manufacture because I would ensure that the shoes were made of a much higher quality, because these shoes let me down less than 6 months after date of purchase!
One day, as I was running across the road I almost slipped and fell because the sole of my red shoes had actually COME LOOSE off my show whilst I was crossing a very, very, busy road – as is ALWAYS the way, things go wrong at the most inappropriate moments!
Thankfully, I made it safely to the other side of the road without being hit by a car BUT even luckier, because I am so experienced in preparing for…. Yep you guessed it – these fashion emergencies I’m now blogging about!
So in my hand bag, within my Borne Naked Fashion Emergency Kit, is this fancy little product – Shoe Goo!
Keep your shoes together until you can get them repaired.
This snazzy little product glues the most difficult of surfaces together! And it securely bonded the sole of my red points to recreate one secure high heel! Unfortunately I didn’t have the luxury of waiting 24 hours for the glue to dry, but when I arrived at my destination, I did have the ability to place my shoe carefully beneath my office desk, off my foot, allowing it to dry without having anyone notice I was barefoot (wink, wink)!
Read the instructions for Shoe Goo carefully! Follow the instructions to the T! Shoe Goo is a handy little product and as you can see from my example, you just don’t know when you’ll need it!
Tip 3 – It may seem obvious but link
The ever infamous Sewing Kit!
This mini little kit will pull you out of a number of Fashion Emergencies! Being a working business woman, my busy activities often find me in awkward predicaments! Such as… being in situations where I’m heading into an important meeting and the button on my shirt is about to fall right off, exposing me to the general public at large, let alone a room full of Executives! ARGH! But what to do?
Hold tight ladies because Tip 4 is not only helpful, it’s also adorable!
Allow me to introduce you to MY chosen ‘go to’, which is not only incredibly handy BUT it’s just perfect for sewing on that loosely hanging button! It literally takes just one little minute to sew a button back into place, but to show you just how easy it is, I’ve got a little link for you to go to, that will help you out! Just click over here to learn all about sewing on your button: link

Say hello to the incredibly useful Scotch-Brite™MiniLint Roller! Large enough to remove the lint from your clothes and yet still small enough to fit into your Bare Naked Ladies handbag liner! This lint roller in particular, is tough enough to remove pet hair, and picks up lint from your clothing, furniture, the inside of your hand bag (handy tip on what to use on the inside of your handbag!), car interiors – just wherever you need to remove unwanted visitors from fabric!
Tip 1 – link
