Writing Question

Is my story too similar to another one that already exists?

It's about a girl called Lucy who discoveres with some of her friends that they can change into mermaids. They all keep this in secret.
Unfortunately, Lucy has to move to Berlin where she can't transform or meet her friends anymore. Some guys bully her at school and she gets only one good friend, Denise.
When Lucy returns to the seaside for a holiday, her friends have changed. Not all of them are interested in swimming around as mermaids anymore.
But most of them change their mind when they get invitations for a public school which turns out to be a school for mermaids, angels, demons and centaurs. Once there, Lucy is pretty surprised to meet Denise as an angel and the school bully Xenia as a demon again. Soon, she finds more friends and enemies. Her worst enemy will be Ladi à Blesse (nobody knows her real name), who seems to be after her for a reason she doesn't know.

Of course, this is only the very general plot. There will be some subplots, too.
But what do you think about it so far? Is it okay?

The mermaid plot reminds me of H20 just add water (a show), but other then that it looks quite original, and awesome either way!

thank you, guys! That means so much to me. <3 And yes, I was inspired by H2O (it's my favourite TV show), but also a bit by Harry Potter and "The tail of Emily Windsnap". :)

XD yeah, that's true! Wherever you go, vampires over vampires. It's really annoying

Not really, it seems original. I disagree with the H2O thing, sure they're both about mermaids but like the person above said, look at all the Vampire books. Besides, H2O isn't NEARLY as dark, or as interesting as this sounds and it certainly doesn't have demons. I think this sounds awesome!

Good luck!!! :)
