i love writing stories/novels, i want to write a horror novel but i don't know what to write it about and it's my first horror novel. i want there to be ghosts and murder involved, but i don't want it to be a cliche, please help me come up with a plot

I'm not trying to be unhelpful, I don't think there are many people who would actually try to do that. But honestly, I think if you want to write a novel, it should be an idea that struck you as a winner as soon as you thought of it, not necessarily from a list of topics that someone deals out to you. People could sit here all day and list out plots for horror stories, and none of them would be what YOU wanted to write about. Sorry I can't really help much, but I hope my advice can be worth a little something. I'm not much of a horror fanatic anyway, so if I had given you an idea it probably would have been considerably lame. But before you start writing, just be sure it's a plot that really makes you WANT to write that story down, not just an assigned topic. :)

Try something like this:

(Characters Name) Is a (Age) (Gender) Who moves in with her aunt and uncle, once she is told that her parent's have died in an accident or something. They move into this small, homey house, on the end of a street. Every night, he/she hears soft noises coming from the walls. He/she tries to bloc out the noise, holding her pillow to her ears or plugging head phones in. Every morning she asks her aunt and uncle if they heard the noises. They say no, but she can tell that they're shaken. One night she decides to go looking for the source of the noise. Pressing her ear against one of her bedroom walls, she hears whispering and strange noises. As she backs away, she see's two very real replicas of her parents standing before her/him. They're bloodied and injured. They speak to him/her, and tell them its ok. That they'd all be together soon. So the parents come back each night, stay up talking to their child. About how great everything will be once they are together. What he/she didn't know was that they meant death. A strange smell starts rising from the chimney, and it smells as if its burning flesh. He/she goes to investigate, and goes down into the basement, where the steam oven is located. He/she finds the parents burning human bodies, and eating from them. He/she watches as blood flows out from the victim and onto the parents clothing and skin. "We'll be together soon," Cackles the mother.

And then you could probably just take it from there. I hope you could make the girl/boy die in the end and the parents get their wish....if you don't use this I will.
