Writing Question

Does this idea sound stupid and too...ambitious?

I'm doing documents that are "about the characters". The main reason I started doing it was so I could know every depth of my characters, but then it got to the point where I was doing things that if I got to be a famous author or something with a website dedicated to my books, I could post them online. I've also done it where it's a Q and A session with me interviewing the characters. Does it sound stupid and worthless? Does it sound like I'm wasting my time because I'll never reach it? My "friends" have told me this. What do you fellow writers think?

You should follow what you want to do. Don't let "friends" get in the way of dreams,

It does NOT sound stupid, worthless, or that it's like you're wasting your time. There are a few people I know who don't have anything published, yet have a website and a forum for their books, some that aren't finished yet. They're your characters, your books, and you never know if you'll become a famous author or not. You can do anything you want with them. I think it's a great idea for the 'interview' with the characters, because you can get a look into your characters personalitys that you imagined, but didn't really think about, and you can spark new ideas about them with every question, some things you might not have thought about if you hadn't. It's all a great idea, and could be a guidline to being a good writer (in my oppinion). So, keep on with it! It doesn't matter what your friends think but what you think!:)
Hope this helps!!:):)

I think all writers should do this. Its deffinetly NOT stupid. I think it helps clarify the characters, and helps write the story. And who knows maybe one day you will be a famous author :)

It's impossible to write a book if you don't know who your characters really are and I think you'll find that a lot of other writers do similar things. "Q and A" sessions sound like a really good idea beacause even if they can't be published in a novel you can get a sense of your characters' personalities: how they speak, how they react to different types of question, their thought process, etc. GREAT IDEA!

I like reading a book where the author does something interesting with the characters. Learning more about the characters helps me get to know them better and understand the story more. It's a very creative idea of yours. Your friends shouldn't talk down on you like that. No one knows what is going to happen in the future until it gets here. Who are they to tell you what your future is?

Actually it's quite a good idea. It DOES help you with your characters, you know, and - well - you know what to do when you're finally famous :D sometimes I do the same thing. Good luck with your writing!

Do what you want to do ans dont let anyone tell you its wrong. Thats a great idea and i think you should go ahead and do it. Screw your friends. If they dont like you for who you are then they arent worth it.
