Writing Question

How would you prefer stories to start out?

Just wonddering how you guys would answer this to help me out on the story ive started writing. Do you like reading an intro first? Like, saying whats going on, or an intro about the theme (like, friendship). Or maybe just skipping right into the story. Starting with action, or just in the middle of the main characters life.

Depends. It just has to be attention grabbing, and interesting. Whatever seems to work for that particular story.

Don't write the story. Let the characters write it for you. Put the pen down or step away from the keyboard. Close your eyes in a silent place and let the characters tell you their life and their story. When you see the story playing out in your head like a movie, you will find it so much easier to know where those characters want their story to start. Than you write for them.

Start with a dialogue; specifically two people arguing.
