Australian Characters?

I want one of my characters to be from Australia, but I've never been there, so I don't know what it's like and how the people are, how they talk, etc. If you're from there or know people, can you give me some tips?
What're some common phrases, attitudes, or just like a general description of teens from there (Like for America, I'd say in general, the teens here are fairly ignorant, hateful, and selfish (no offense to other americans)). Thanks for any help! I just don't want to have a character that's like the typical way Americans think of Australians, because I know people don't ride kangaroos to school and all that ridiculous stuff. :]
