Writing Question

Is it strange/impractical to write a novel in present tense?

I find it much more comfortable to write in present than in past, and I feel like it fits better with my style of writing as well as the plot, but I've heard that it appeals less to readers and makes it harder to get published. Any thoughts?

It's not strange. A lot of recent books have used present tense. As a reader, though, I'm not a fan of it. I think it takes a lot more work from the writer to make it sound natural, and that it's very hit or miss.

I've never read a book using present tense but I think if the stories good it wouldn't matter what tense are used.

I don't know, I am writing one of my stories in present tense because it is about what the narrarator is currently experiencing and I have lots of readers, but it's a online post so i'm not sure.

Not in my opinion. It jsut depend what you are writing. Sometimes horror stories are better in present tense.

I've read multitple books in present tense, and it doesn't bother me at all. However, if you start using fragments every other sentence, like in one books series I won't mention the name of, then some readers may get annoyed or unintrested.

No. Before I Fall, Something Borrowed, and The Hunger Games trilogy are all present tense. And look where they are now. Two of them, at least.
