I really thought he was going to kiss me. Boy, was I wrong. I swear he was moving closer and closer but then suddenly he was on his feet pulling me up. I frowned but then put on a fake smile so he wouldn’t realize. ‘I really liked him but if I told him…’ I sighed as I thought to myself. We picked our stuff back up and I slipped hos shoes on and he didn’t complain. Nick carried my shirt and shorts and handed me his short to throw on over my bathing suit. I smiled and gratefully put it on.
My mind was racing. Racing fast. Did he really just give me his shirt!? I wanted to jump up and down happily. But not in front of Nick. He looked over at me and smiled so I smiled back. We walked closer together not to where our hands were touching but close enough for each other to hear us whisper to each other. I felt as if my face was on fire. Oh, no. Please no. I was blushing. And blushing hard. I was trying my hardest not to look at Nick. I don’t want him seeing me like this!
I said, “Want to race?” He laughed. “Sure,” He said enthused. He gave me a head start by letting me run faster than him. “Hey no cheating like that. It’s a fair game,” I yelled back at him. I heard him laugh and next thing I know it, he’s running past me. My mouth flew open realizing I was slower than him. I picked up, which was a really stupid thing to do, knowing how much of a klutz I am around him. I tripped and tumbled into the middle of the road. Thank god no cars were coming. Nick happened to look back as I fell. He stopped and ran faster all the way back to me.
When Nick reached me I was already up and brushing myself clean from the dirt. He licked his finger and put pressure on my arm. “Look at you, Karleigh,” He laughed slightly, “You made your arm bleed. Oh, no. Looks like there is glass in there. Come on let’s get u cleaned up. I smiled as he held my elbow leading me home. Only a few more Trailer’s, I thought.
When we got to my trailer, no one was home. So, Nick got the first-aid kit out from under the bathroom sink and took the pillars to pull the little piece of glass out. I flinched as he pulled a little piece of my skin. Nick wiped up the blood running from the cut then put a bandaid on it.

Its too dark
Too dark to see what is going on
Tripping over the couch
Slamming into the wall
stepping on the remote
It was too dark
The undone dishes
The scattered roses
The broken picture
My broken heart
It was too dark
Believing it would change
That he would change
A Waste
A waste of my time
My Effort
The “No Messages” left on my phone
It was too dark
It was too dark to see what had happened
Too dark to try to fix things
Its just too dark
Someone turn on the light
That light bulb in my head of what Ive done wrong
Its too dark
Too dark to see what is going on
Tripping over the couch
Slamming into the wall
stepping on the remote
