We didn't tell mine or Blake's family about the pregnancy. I didn't want anyone to feel sorry for us if we had another miscarriage. I was really excited, but I was also absolutely terrified. And since I couldn't manage to keep myself calm, Blake insisted that I keep taking my medication throughout the pregnancy.
I took Hera to her first AA meeting. I promised not to tell Dad or Kara, even though I knew I probably should. We agreed we only tell them if she kept drinking; and I warned her if she lied to me, I would eventually find out and kill her. She didn't really talk in the meeting, which I didn't blame her. The first time I went I wouldn't even look at anyone.
"Thanks for taking me here, Irina," Hera said as I tried to help her get in the car. I folded up her wheelchair and put it in the trunk.
"No problem. Just remember our deal," I said, giving her a warning glance. She laughed. I raised an eyebrow. "I'm serious." Her laughing stopped and she looked at me, scared. I smirked as I got into the driver's seat.
"How was the movie?" Kara asked as I wheeled Hera up to the porch. It wasn't difficult to push her in it, but going up the stairs was another story. Thankfully Dad came out and got her inside.
"Good," Hera said in unison.
"Irinaaa! Are you going to take me to the movies?" Desiree whined.
"Maybe another day, Dezzie," I told her. "I should probably be getting home." I said goodbye to everyone, and drove home.
"Have you talked to Gwen at all?" I asked Blake when I got home. He was sitting on the couch watching TV.
"Nope," he said. "Why, have you?" I shook my head and went to the kitchen to start making dinner. "Well, I'm sure she's fine."
"I don't want her to be mad at us," I said.
"I know, but... I don't know. I don't think she's mad at us. She probably just wants time alone. Who knows? She might've found a new guy by now."
"Exactly. It's been almost two months, and we've barely talked to her."
"I'm sure everything's fine."

Everything was fine with Gwen. She came over a couple weeks later. I nearly hugged the life out of her.
"Irina! It's ok! I wasn't mad at you!" she insisted.
"I missed you," I said. She hugged me back.
"I missed you too. What's up?" she asked. "Anything new?" I wanted to tell her I was pregnant, but I stopped myself. I really didn't want anyone feeling sorry for us if we had another miscarriage. I don't like people feeling sorry for me.
"Nope," I said. "Just same old, same old." Blake raised his eyebrow at me.
"Oh, well that's good I guess," Gwen said cheerfully. We had her over for dinner, and we talked forever. She had met a new guy, named Mikey, and she said she really loved him.
"Well that's good," I said. She grinned and nodded.
"He's perfect." It was wonderful to see Gwen so happy.

"Irina, everything will be fine. We'll be fine no matter what," Blake said quietly, as I laid down on the hospital bed. It had been around ten weeks, and we had to go to the doctor to make sure the baby was alive and well.
I was freaking out.
"But, what if---" I began, but he stopped me.
"Irina, just relax," Blake told me. Then the nurse came in, and put that disgusting goop crap on my stomach, just like she had about five months ago. She moved the weird scanner-thing around, staring at the little television screen. My heart was racing. She smiled.
"You have a healthy little baby," she said. I let out a sigh of relief, and closed my eyes.
"See," Blake said, taking my hand. "I told you."
"Shut up," I said. The nurse laughed, and turned the TV screen towards us and traced something with her finger.
"The baby's right there, see?" she said. It was so tiny. Seeing the little baby there made me more anxious and excited to hold it in my arms. Blake squeezed my hand.
Later that day, we went to Dad's house. I was really excited to tell everyone that Blake and I would be having a baby.
"Uh, that's great, Honey..." Dad said nervously. I could tell he was thinking what I had thought would happen.
"No Dad, I'm ten weeks. They said the baby's healthy," I explained.
"What? Why didn't you tell us?!" he asked. He sighed, then hugged me. "That's great, Irina."
"Your baby came back?" Desiree asked excitedly. Everyone furrowed their eyebrows, but I just laughed.
"Yes, the baby came back," I nodded. She grinned and hugged me. Blake looked at me questioningly, but I just shook my head.
Later that day we also visited Blake's parents, and gave them the exciting news as well. They were just as excited as everyone else seemed to be. It gave me a weird sense of deja vu, only this time I knew for sure I would be having a baby soon. Then finally, on the way home, I called Gwen and gave her the news. She was a little mad that we didn't tell her before, but she understood our reasons and was happy for us. When we got home, I was exhausted. I laid down on the bed, and closed my eyes.
"Happy now?" Blake chuckled. I nodded. "See, I told you everything would be fine."
"You said that already," I reminded him. He kissed my cheek.
"I know. But did you listen? No..." he ranted jokingly. I rolled my eyes.
"Go to sleep," I said, rolling over so my back was facing him.

Glance the other way
Rip your heart out
I just don't care anymore
You're useless
And uncaring
You know nothing!
Yet you pretend you do
You're a pretender
A pretender is just a liar in disguise
A pretender is a faker
A pretender hides
A pretender is a maker
Of the dark abyss
You told me once
I told you twice
Now what?
Do we forget the past?
Live for the future?
Or remember and continue on our path?
...Decisions...Decisions...
Left or right?
Up or down?
Wrong or right?
Please give me the answer
For I do not know
Right and wrong any longer
Rip your heart out
I just don't care anymore
You're useless
And uncaring
You know nothing!
Yet you pretend you do
