Hi. My name is Epira, but Epi for short, and I'm 15. I go to a school in the rural South Carolina area, with only 14 people in my class. I have a lot of friends who get themselves into a lot of trouble. Awsome family, and wonderful life. School starts back today, so it will be the first day I've seen my friends in a while!
"Epi!", squealed Kae,who is my bestest of all best friends. We have a lot in common, and love each other like sisters. She has the coolest family and cutest little sister you ever did see, Mackie. She was the only person I constantly talked to over the summer; I went over to her house, she came over to mine, and we went to her beach house with her family for a week in July.
"Oh my goodness, look who it is!"
"Yes, the one and only Kae! Feel free to bask in my wonderfulness if you wish," she said to people passing by in the busy hallway.
"Crazy, just like always." I quoted from her the time we almost flipped her grandad's golftcart in the swamps behind her house.
She laughed. "Oh, it feels like forver since I've seen you!"
"Umm, Kae, I saw you last week."
She was a little miffled. It took her a minute to remeber. Crazy Kae. "Who cares! I still missed ya like crazy!"
"Same here. For the last week all I had to do was go fishin' with my cousins. And oh, let me tell you, it was a blast." I told her with my best sarcastic tone.
"I'm sure it had to be better than spendin' all of your free time with Mackie."
I was about to object when the first bell rang, singaling the start of class.
We sat beside each other in every class, thank goodness we had the same schedule.
After a few hours of class, it's lunch time.
Kae, Claire, Anya, Carmen, Alexandrea and I all sat at our usual table with a few of the boys, Mick, Jay, Darrel, and Rusty and Ross, the twins.
Claire had been in our class before, but left last year, becuase she had some 'anger management' classes her mother said she needed to take, but is back this year and practically a different person.
She's the teacher's daughter, but Anya sure has a mind of her own. Loves to daydream, and isn't afraid to take risks. She may seem a little bit snobby at first, only becuase she's really shy. She's the closest friend I've got besides Kae.
Carmen and Alexandrea's moms are best friends, so they've grown up together, and ironically, have the most drama. One always dates the boy that the other one likes or one of them said something not-so-nice to their face, but they know it was the truth. Ah, high school.
Mick, Jay, and Darrel have always been some good friends of ours. We always hang out together, talk and just be lazy. A lot of fun mememories are with these guys.
Rusty and Ross are just the two coolest people I have ever met in my life. Super sweet, and polite. They moved here with their family from Ohio just a few years ago, and were accepted with open arms.
"How was the football game Friday night, guys? Y'all win?" I asked Ross. He was the captain, although all the other boys played, too.
"We stomped 'em. Just a regular game, ya no. Undeafeted for the season so far, so it's no suprise we did actually. Hey, don't give me that look, I've done nothing to deserve it." He said with a smile across his face after I gave him a sarcastic expression when he was talking about the win not being a suprise.
"Psh, whatever. Lot of people show up?"
Mick answered this time. "Of course. Why wouldn't-"
Carmen cut him off. "Speaking of which, Claire said she never saw you. Why weren't you there? You love to come whatch the games."
"I-"
"She was busy. And why is it your business anyway?" Kae to the rescue. I couldn't tell them where I was. It was just to embarassing. Spending the night with your grandmother after grade school here was considered practically a social death.
"Goh, you don't have to get all offensive about it, Kae." She said, rolling her eyes.
The bell rang for sixth period.
"Hey, Epi, you wanna come to my house this weekend? I invited Kae, too. It will be eons of fun!" Anya asked. I guess she wanted to get me alone so Carmen and Alexandra wouldn't decide to invite themselves.
"Sure. I'd love to, Anya. Have you all ready asked Kae?"
"Actually, I have. She said she would come."
"Okay then. See you later." I said as I waved goodbye.
"See ya."
This should be interesting, I though to myself as I marched off to world history.
Okay, everyone. This is my first article, so please let me know what you think in the comments!

When hate is in your heart
Don’t be afraid to tear yourself apart
Through your demonic fear
Until you hear
The angels sing
Thy blessing
When you hear heaven’s
Yell you wonder if the seven
Of sins were committed
It was you who committed them
And you wil burn for sin
You are consumed by wretched flames
And through everyones aims
You are never hit
Nor bit
By the fire consuming you
Screams from hell
Sound like ringing from a bell
Things of silence
Are really screams
People of benevolence
Have bright beams
Of hope and light
You are consumed by wretched flames
And through everyones aims
You are never hit
Nor bit
By the fire consuming you
We are listening
We aren’t missing
We know what lies within
So raise your chin
Look at the world with your pessimistic gleam
And seem
All so picture perfect

How are the winners determined from the losers? Easy. Whoever gave in first.
And if no one gives in?
Giving in is often easier. But not the desirable choice.
Taylor tapped the glass coated floor. The tiny black droplet that bloomed on her forefinger fell with a soft plink on a triangle of glass below.
Taylor cautiously lifted the shard to the light. There it was. A small stain, barely the size of a pinhead, darkening the glass.
That's all I am. Just a flaw on an otherwise clear surface.
Just a flaw. A mistake that was never meant to be.
"I'm leaving," Taylor muttered to herself, getting back to her feet. She strode towards the corner, vanishing just as soon as the shadow fell over to embrace her slight form.
She closed her eyes and felt the end of her plait, fumbling with it until wove free.
She knew where she was going, if only this once.
But when she got there? She hadn't thought that far.
